Neither wind nor rain could stop the Mariners cross country team Sept. 17. Challenging teams from Kenai, Soldotna, Skyview, Nikiski and Seward oon the five-kilometer course on Tsalteshi Trails near Skyview High School in Soldotna, the Mariner boys took third place, with Tux Seims claiming overall second place with a time of 17:26. The Homer girls took fourth place, with Frances Bursch the first Homer runner to cross the finish line, with a time of 22:18, putting her in 14th place.

Tux Seims ran 17:26.1, placing second behind Nikiski's Sebastian Strickland. Tux was a mere 4.2 seconds behind Strickland at the finish line.
