On the evening of Aug. 27, Rainbow Tours hosted, along with Friendship Center, a senior cruise to Gull Island. A delightful time was had by an assorted group of seniors and young people. Captain Jack got us so close to the island we could look right into the eyes of the birds and they could look into ours. He also did an excellent job of telling us about all the inhabitants of the island and pointing out two adorable otters while always keeping an extra lookout for whales.
The crew and owners of the Rainbow are always so friendly and helpful. What a privilege it is to know such fine and generous people.
With a giant word of thanks and around of applause we would like to give an appreciative yahoo to the Knights of the Sea, aka Matt Clarke, Gordon Pitzman and the crew of Taxicats for jumping off their boat and assisting our wheelchair bound seniors and others who needed an extra hand up the ramp.
Others on the cruise that helped make our evening so awesome were: the Hughs family, Rick Gibson and eight to 10 teenagers who transported and passed out refreshments and visited with our seniors before, during and after the cruise.
We live in such a beautiful area of Alaska and are so grateful that Rainbow Tours extends a yearly invitation for our seniors to enjoy Kachemak Bay.
Thanks, thanks, thanks again Rainbow Tours, Friendship Center and Friendship Terrace staffs.
Margaret La Vigueur, Program Director, Friendship Center.
