Alaska State Troopers at 12:18 a.m. on Sept. 20 tried to stop the driver of a white Volkswagen on Circle Lake Road near Mile 19 East End Road. When the trooper turned on his lights, the driver sped away, heading east toward Voznesenka. Right before the trooper lost sight of the car, the driver lost control, troopers allege. The car struck the ditch and rolled several times. Homer emergency medical technicians treated and transported to South Peninsula Hospital the driver, a 20-year-old man, and his three passengers, two 18-year-old men and a 16-year-old girl. All but the driver were later released. Troopers said they believe alcohol was involved.
Homer firefighters at 10:30 p.m. Sept. 21 went to a house fire on Mission Road off the top of East End Road. By the time they arrived, the roof of the log and wood-frame home collapsed onto part of the home. The house was occupied, but the residents were out of town, said Chief Robert Painter. The cause of the fire is under investigation, but he said the burn pattern shows it started in the living room.
A Homer woman at 1:20 a.m. on Sept. 22 told police a noise in her home woke her up and she saw a light on in the kitchen. A curtain separated her bedroom from the kitchen, and she saw a man staring at her from about four feet away. The woman yelled at the intruder to leave, and he ran away. Police looking for the suspect were contacted by a neighbor who said she saw a man run and hide in some trees when police came near him. Police drove by again and saw a man matching the victim's description walking in the trees near April Place. Police took the suspect to the victim's home, and she identified him as the intruder. Police arrested Christian Lowry, 41. Police allege Lowry tampered with a jar of snack food and a jar of quartz crystals, and opened the jar and tried to steal some crystals. He was charged with first-degree burglary, a felony, and fourth-degree attempted theft.
A Kenai grand jury indicted Jess Odell, 44, for second-degree burglary and second-degree theft. In a second indictment, Odell was charged with two counts of interfering with official proceedings, two counts of first-degree tampering with a witness, four counts of first-degree unlawful conduct and one count of first-degree stalking, all felonies. The indictments stem from an incident last November in which Odell is alleged to have assaulted his girlfriend, prevented her from calling troopers, and threatened to kill her.

A woman reported to Homer police on Sept. 12 that while working at Friendship Terrace she was assaulted by a 78-year-old man. In court documents, police allege the worker entered an elevator with a fruit basket she was delivering to a resident. She said she stood behind a man in an electric wheelchair. He asked to her move, but she could not because the wheelchair blocked her way. He then became upset and yelled at her, and backed his chair into the woman four or five times. He then pinned her against the elevator wall with his wheelchair. She told the defendant he was hurting her and to stop. She told police the alleged assault caused her pain in her abdomen. Police arrested the suspect, Clarence Asp, for fourth-degree assault.
Police on Sept. 18 issued a "be on the lookout" for Marc Pascuiti, a 45-year-old man they attempted to serve a temporary restraining order on earlier, but who avoided being served. Police saw Pascuiti driving away from a liquor store in a 1986 Colt station wagon. They followed Pascuiti to his Svedlund Street home and contacted him. In court documents, police allege Pascuiti admitted to drinking alcohol and smelled like alcohol. Police administered field-sobriety tests and a blood-alcohol test, and allege he had a BAC of .182. Police allege Utah records showed Pascuiti had prior convictions for driving while intoxicated. Police arrested Pascuiti for felony driving under the influence and driving while license revoked.
