Kachemak Selo kindergarten, first, second and third grade students present Homer Public Library Director Helen Hill with rolls of pennies they collected to buy a copper fish at the new library. The students held a penny drive and collected 11,400 — $114 — in four days. As part of a capital campaign to raise money to build the library, donors bought $100 or $500 fish with the donor’s choice of wording that were installed on a sculpture in front of the library. Fish are still available. Proceeds go to the Friends of the Homer Public Library for its library improvement fund.
