Memorial services were Sept. 22, 2005, at South Peninsula Hospital in the Long Term Care Commons Area. His ashes will be scattered in Kentucky at a later date, per his wishes.
Mr. Gamble was born July 12, 1950 in Evansville, Ind. He attended Southeastern Illinois College from 1968-70. In 1971, Mr. Gamble enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served his country honorably until he was discharged in 1975. He continued his education at Southern Illinois University receiving his bachelor’s degree in Political Science in 1976.
In 1984, he received his registered nurse license in Phoenix. He moved to Kotzebue, Alaska in 1998 and to Anchorage in 2000. In 2003, he moved to Homer and was working at South Peninsula Hospital.
He enjoyed painting, art, reading and traveling.
“Jim leaves behind many friends he had met on the travels he made across the world. He loved bragging on his only son, Matt and doting on his granddaughters. He was anticipating his third grandchild in January,” his family said.
Mr. Gamble was preceded in death by his parents, Claudia and Harlan Gamble.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Matthew and Misty Gamble; grandchildren, Leilani Gamble and Ashley Pritchett all of DeSoto, Ill.; sisters and brothers-in-law, Jane Whitlock-Curran and Dan Curran of St. Louis, Mo. and Lori and Keith Whitlow of Owasso, Okla.; and a brother, Scott Gamble of Kentucky; three nieces, one nephew, many cousins and friends.
Arrangements were made by Peninsula Memorial Chapel.
Homer resident James Lee Gamble, 55, died Sept. 11, 2005, at his home in Homer.
