I have lived in Colorado for over 35 years, used to snow ski three to four days a week. I quit skiing eight years ago because I would not pay the outrageous lift ticket prices.
Guess what? A lot of tourists quit coming. The Great Colorado powder, "The Best Anywhere," isn't bringing the everyday people, the "blue collar" people, back into this state to ski.
The skiing industry in Colorado is hurting big time. Ask yourself, why? People will find something else to do, or different place to go to get more bang for their buck.
Colorado got greedy. Colorado is also big on taxes. Lots and lots of taxes.
Now it is looking at making all our major highways toll roads to pay for rebuilding and widening the roads. That could add another $12 to get to the nearest ski area and back home (we're talking a stretch of I-70, all of 50 miles.)
Taxes aren't the answer either. The more taxes you pay, the more they expect. If we ran our homes the way the government runs theirs, we would all be living in the street.
