Paul M. Gibson

Obituary

Paul M. Gibson
Sterling resident Paul Matthew Gibson, 32, died Sept. 17, 2004, at his home in Sterling.

Memorial services were held Sept. 24, 2004, at Sterling Senior Center.

Mr. Gibson was born July 2, 1972, in Chelan, Mo. He moved to Alaska at a young age and lived in Anchorage, Seward, Homer and Sterling. He worked in construction with Don Dobson for several years. They worked together in Washington, Oregon and Alaska. Paul lived in Kalama, Wash. from 1994 until his mother's death in 2001. While in Washington, he worked for Earl Welch, National Ad Co. During this time Paul and Earl became very good friends. After moving back to Alaska, he worked with his brothers, Jesse, Larry and Curt, to start a logging business, Big Bear Timber.

His family said, "Knowing Paul was an experience in itself. He always wore a smile and was never afraid to be himself. Paul loved to sing and dance. Singing with his family was a favorite pastime. Paul was always willing to lend a helping hand when needed, or just listen to be a friend. Paul was also an avid football and basketball fan. The San Francisco 49ers and Chicago Bulls were his favorite teams. Paul loved his family and we love him. He touched so many lives with his smile. Paul was most proud of his nieces and nephews. Their strength and accomplishments were music to his heart. He will be loved and deeply missed."

Mr. Gibson was preceded in death by his parents, Earl E. Gibson Sr. and Nancy Kay Littleton.

He is survived by his daughter, Dominic Gibson of Washington; brothers, Danny Gibson of California, Jesse and Eldon Gibson Jr. of Alaska, Randy Gibson of Kentucky, Mason Gibson, Donald Dobson Jr., Larry Dobson, Curtis Dobson and Dave Dobson, all of Alaska; Travis Dobson of Washington; sisters and brother-in-law, Nancy and Wilbert Ross, Sherrie Dobson, Sylvia Lamb, Claire Keene, Lora Gibson and Rachiel Gibson, all of Alaska, and Norma Gibson of Idaho; nieces, Jenipher, Donna, Phellisha, Denai, Shanti, and Rozilynn, all of Alaska; Charice, Crystal and Ashley of Washington, Bonni of Idaho, and Jessie Jean of Illinois; nephews, Daniel, Donald, Jeramiah and Kalani all of Alaska; David Jr. of Idaho, Brandon of Washington and Stacy and Johnny of Illinois.
