After a decent 12-4 week one, the pigskin picker dropped the ball and picked only 10 games right when the chips were down in week two.
To make matters worse, the column accidentally got axed from last week's paper, so I didn't tell you how my editor, Lori Evans picked 11 right, using the "best city to live in" method. Congrats, Lori.
My picks for week three were:
Atlanta over Arizona, Baltimore over Cincinnati, Philadelphia over Detroit, Kansas City over Houston, Pittsburgh over Miami, Minnesota over Chicago, NY Giants over Cleveland, St. Louis over New Orleans, Tennessee over Jacksonville, Denver over San Diego, Indianapolis over Green Bay, Seattle over San Francisco, Oakland over Tampa Bay, and Washington over Dallas on Monday Night Football.
And if you notice, I only got 10 right, again.
Andrew Foley beat all-comers, including the Picker, with 11 wins. Congratulations, Andrew.
So to recap, in the first three weeks of the season, the Pigskin Picker has gone 0-2 with a week one bye. I've been beaten by my editor -- who, shall we say, isn't the biggest NFL fan in the room -- and the Mariners swimming coach and my column got axed once by mistake.
All this in a world where the Jacksonville Jaguars are 3-0, San Francisco got blanked for the first time at home in more than a decade, and the Kansas City Chiefs -- Sports Illustrated pick to win their division -- head into week four without a win.
Speaking of week four, here are my picks.
If you think you can beat them (you're not alone), send them to me via e-mail at ben.stuart @homernews.com, or scribble them down on 50 shares of Microsoft stock and drop them off at the News.
New England over Buffalo, Philadelphia over Chicago, Indianapolis over Jacksonville, Washington over Cleveland, Houston over Oakland, New York Giants over Green Bay, Pittsburgh over Cincinnati, Carolina over Atlanta, New Orleans over Arizona, Denver over Tampa Bay, New York Jets over Miami, Tennessee over San Diego, St. Louis over San Francisco, Baltimore over Kansas City.
Good luck. I know I need it.
