With the score deadlocked at 18 when the final gun sounded, the two evenly matched teams had to duke it out through three more periods of play before the Raiders grabbed the 24-18 win on a touchdown from quarterback Anthony Resetarits.
Resetarits also received recognition from his coaches for his outstanding defensive efforts, including a very timely sack of the Steeler quarterback in his ownbackfield.
Raider Cole Jacobsen scored three touchdowns on a great running game, and picked up some key interceptions on the defensive side. Adding to the strong offensive effort was Ben Jantzi, Eric Rosencrans and Restarits.
On the defensive side, coach Randy Rosencrans saw strong performances from Robin Glosser and Chris Crane, referring to his defensive backers as the "key" players.
"Robin and Chris both just did a really great job out there on the defense," Rosencrans said. "They read the offensive plays early, and really helped us stop some key plays."
The Junior Midget Raiders also picked up a win of their own last weekend, as they edged the Saints 19-14.
The Junior Pee Wee Raiders travel to Anchorage this weekend to face the Anchorage Eagles at noon Sunday at the Davis 80 field. The Midgets host the Mat-Su Steelers at Homer High School's football field Sunday at noon.
