Through its corporate donation program, First National periodically gives money to qualified nonprofit organizations. Dye served on the board of directors of the Central Peninsula Habitat for Humanity and knew of its goals, he said.
"I think it's an honor to play a small part in this project," Dye said. "It's a valuable part of the community."
Boone said South Kenai Habitat for Humanity has several fund-raising events planned over the next month. At the Oct. 17 6:30 p.m. showing of "Matchstick Men," Homer Theatre will donate part of the proceeds to Habitat.
Boone said there is an Indian-food dinner planned for mid-November.
