The plan now needs to be updated to reflect changing conditions and issues on the Kenai Peninsula. According to project manager Crista Cady-Hippchen, "changes in demographics, land use, the local and national economy, state and federal regulations and other conditions will necessitate new policies and actions at the borough and local community levels."
The process of updating the plan is scheduled for completion in May, 2005. At public meetings in October and November, participants will be encouraged to identify local and boroughwide issues that should be addressed in the Comprehensive Plan. More information about these meetings can be found at www.kpbcompplan.com.
Citizens are encouraged to take an active role in shaping the Comprehensive Plan by attending meetings or taking other opportunities to comment onthe plan.
