Mr. Warden was born Aug. 6, 1930, in Mangum, Okla. He joined the U.S. Air Force in 1949 and was involved in teaching aviation maintenance. He arrived in Alaska in 1995 to work for Pacific Northern Airways in aviation maintenance. He pastored the Valdez Assembly of God Church from 1964-66, the McGrath Assembly of God Church for eight years, the Gustavus Assembly of God Church for two years, the Delta Junction Assembly of God Church and the Pentecostal Church of God, and worked at the Children's Home in Juneau. Mr. Warden worked in flight training of fixed-wing pilots and later in rotary wing aircraft, along with aviation maintenance in both types.
The highlight of his experience was a two-year involvement with the Brazilian Assembly of God Church installing an engine in an amphibious aircraft and flying the Amazon and four other major rivers. While overseas in Brazil, he returned one summer to Alaska and flew glacier flights out of Talkeetna. Another highlight was a trip to Africa to visit a nephew, a missionary in Zimbabwe. He was always involved in personal evangelism.
Mr. Warden was preceded in death by his first wife, Pamela O'Brannon Warden; his sons Jack Ray Warden Jr. and Timothy Wayne Warden; four infant children; his oldest sister, Ruby Warden Avery, and oldest brother, Charlie Warden.
He is survived by his wife, Lois Evelyn Warden of Homer; daughter Terry Bowers and grandchildren John, Tom and Pamela, all of Mt. View, Hawaii; son David Warden of Anchorage; sister Kathryn Splawn of Harrisburg, Ore.; brothers Donald Warden of Sheridan, Ore., and John Warden of Reedsport, Ore.; and step-children Natalie and Robert Wade.
Funeral arrangements were by Witzleben Family Funeral Homes.
