Middle school student makes threat

staff report

Homer Police last Wednesday investigated a threat made by a Homer Middle School student. At about 10 a.m. Oct. 4, Principal Dan Beck reported a student made threats at the school. Police responded and found no weapons on the student, said Homer Police Chief Mark Robl. Police forwarded the case to the Office of Children’s Services, Division of Juvenile Justice, for review.

The Kenai Peninsula Borough School District followed its policy regarding threats, said assistant superintendent of instruction Sam Stewart.

“We take all threats seriously and do our utmost to make sure students and staff are safe,” he said.

Stewart did not comment on the specific case. Penalties for threats range from immediate suspension, long-term suspension or expulsion, he said.
