Mrs. Alexander was born July 31, 1928. in Silva, Mo. She moved to Homer in 1955. In 1982, she moved to Arizona and resided there until 2000, when she returned to Homer.
Mrs. Alexander was a member of the Pioneers of Alaska and the American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed bingo and reading.
“Gerry was loved by her family and friends,” her family said.
Mrs. Alexander was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford “JR” Alexander, and her mother, Gladys Yates.
She is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Jack and Sue Alexander of Homer and Gerald and Laura Alexander of Chino Valley, Ariz.; grandchildren and their spouses, Reed, Rick and Leona Alexander, all of Homer, Darrin Alexander and Chevonne and Tom Clarke of Anchor Point, Jodi and Shane Nelson of Chino Valley, Ariz.; and great-grandchildren, Cody and Shelby Alexander of Homer, and Samantha Nelson of Chino Valley, Ariz., and Katie and Alex Clarke of Anchor Point.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Homer Senior Citizens Friendship Center, 3935 Svedlund Street Homer, AK 99603.

Longtime Homer resident Gerry Alexander, 77, died Sept. 23, 2005, at South Peninsula Hospital in Homer. A joint memorial service with the Pioneers of Alaska and American Legion Auxiliary was held at the Homer Senior Center. Mrs. Alexander was buried at Hickerson Cemetery on Diamond Ridge Road.
