On Oct. 8 at about 4:50 p.m., a Homer man made a "report every drunk driver immediately" complaint that a driver in a white Ford heading east on East End Road crossed the center line, had gone into the ditch several times and forced six-to-eight drivers to move out of the way when the suspect drove in the oncoming lane. The caller said at least twice the suspect drove for a quarter mile in the wrong lane.
Trooper Ryan Browning and Sgt. Jim Hibpshman found the suspect slumped over in a Ford truck in the ditch of the oncoming lane at Lusky Lane and East End Road. In court documents, Trooper Browning wrote that the suspect's feet were caught in the pedals on the driver's side. Troopers allege the man smelled of alcohol and had bloodshot eyes. Troopers allege he failed field-sobriety tests. Troopers arrested the driver, Bruce Blythe, 46, for driving under the influence. Blythe refused to submit to blood-alcohol or chemical tests, and was charged with refusal to submit to a chemical test. Blythe was arrested on May 9 and Sept. 3 for driving under the influence, and was also charged with violating the conditions of his release.
On Oct. 11 Homer Police received a REDDI complaint of a driver in a black 1990 Subaru Impreza. Officer Stacy Luck contacted the suspect, and found the suspect near Pioneer Avenue and Heath Street. Luck gave the suspect field-sobriety tests and allege she had a blood-alcohol level of .242. Luck arrested Allison Symens, 42, of Anchor Point for DUI.
