Upcoming Events
  • McNeil Canyon Elementary School holds its annual Fall Carnival from 4-7 p.m. Oct. 30 at the school.
  • The Kachemak Emergency Service Area Board meets at 7 p.m. Oct. 30 in the borough office at 206 E. Pioneer Ave.
  • The Center for Alaskan Coastal Studies presents a Halloween Haunted House on Oct. 31, Halloween night. From 5-6 p.m. is "Slightly Scary" for younger kids and "Hair Raising Horror" from 6-8 p.m. for older kids. Tickets are $5 each or $10 a family. Call 235-6815.
  • Bay Realty holds its seventh annual Pumpkin Carving contest at 5:30 p.m. Oct. 30 at its Pioneer Avenue office. Deliver carved pumpkins from Oct. 27-30. Cash prizes will be awarded for categories for children and adults. Door prizes and treats will be given away, too.
  • The Homer Emblem Club holds a Halloween party at 3 p.m. Oct. 31 for children up through age 10 at the Elks Lodge.
  • The Boys and Girls Club holds a fund-raiser from 2-6 p.m. Nov. 2 at Alice's Champagne Palace. Johnny B is the host for the non-smoking family affair. Matt Yaki and Friends provide music.
  • Homer Middle School eighth-graders provide face painting and pictures with the Great Pumpkin from 2-6 p.m. Oct. 31 at Ulmer's. The event is a fund-raiser for their spring break trip to Washington, D.C.
