Bearfoot returns to Homer
Bearfoot, the band that started as a group of Anchorage bluegrass camp counselors, returns to Homer for one performance at 7 p.m. Nov. 19 at Alice's Champagne Palace. Now a nationally touring band, Bearfoot has expanded its repertoire from bluegrass to Americana music. Their latest album, "Doors and Windows," was released last spring by Compass Records.
"They bring out the pop influences in their work (including a take on the Beatle's 'Don't Let Me Down'), while showcasing bluegrass licks that appeal to traditionalists," Time Out New York wrote.
Sponsored by the Homer Council on the Arts, tickets are $20 general admission, $15 HCOA members, $12 for age 18 under with an adult or $45 for an HCOA member family of four. Tickets are on sale at HCOA or the Homer Bookstore. For more information and music samples, visit Bearfoot's Web site at www.bearfootband.com.
