Longtime Homer resident Eugene Merle Wagy, 63, died Monday, Oct. 19, 2009, at South Peninsula Hospital from a heart attack with his family by his side.
A celebration of Eugene's life will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 7, 2009. at the American Legion Post No. 16, 41984 Slavin Drive off East End Road. Tim Clark will officiate.

The family wrote, "He was a wonderful husband and father. He worked hard for all of his life. He will be missed very much by his family and friends."
He was preceded in death by his son, Everett Dean "Deano" Wagy, who died Oct. 16, 2009.
He is survived by his wife, Linda M. Wagy of Homer; son, Harold R. Wagy of Talent, Ore.; grandson, Jacob R. Wagy of Talent; granddaughter, Krystin R. Wagy of Talent; daughter in-law, Melissa V. Wagy of Talent; brother, Jerry D. Wagy of Yreka, Calif.; and sister, Sheri L. Middleton of Yreka.
Arrangements were made by Homer Funeral Home.

Mr. Wagy was born Feb. 17, 1946, in Albany, Ore. Eugene moved to Homer in 1991. He was a member of the American Legion Post No. 16. Eugene worked for the North Star Terminal, Stevedore Co. LLC for 10 years. He loved fishing and hunting.
