Broncos, picker go down in defeat

Speaking of picking, did you see Mr. Manning and Mr. Wayne destroy Denver’s cornerback Darrent Williams on Sunday? How sad was that for the No. 2 corner? Note to Mike Shannahan: Don’t let Mr. Manning get comfortable back there or he’ll shred you. Second note: When you play the Colts in the AFC championship game, try something other than that ugly prevent defense all game. You can only bend-not-break so much before you start looking like a pretzel.

Anyway, it was probably the best-played game of the year. So hold your mile-high heads up, Bronco fans. There is also the distinct possibility that the Bronco coach played defensive possum that game and plans more heat on Manning and Co. down the road.

Just a hunch.

As far as week 8 went, well, the picker did better, but not great, getting seven games right. The Picker would feel good about that except that he was beaten by just one game. And the winner was one Mr. Nick C. Varney, again. The plasma TV is in the mail, Varney, (C.O.D.). So stop sending me all those hateful e-mails.
