Like an outbreak of paralytic shellfish poisoning, a red (state) tide swept the country last week giving W four more years and the Pigskin Picker another lopsided 10-win victory. In fact red seemed to be the color of choice during week nine of the NFL season. Take, for instance, Washington in red beating Detroit in blue. How about Arizona over Miami, Cincinnati over Dallas, and Chicago (there's a little red on the helmet) over the New York Giants?
In fact the only blue-colored teams that won (Buffalo, New England, Denver, Indianapolis) were playing against green, blue, blue, and purple teams.
There was one exception, of course, to the red vs. blue rule last week. Seattle (who actually is clad in a color called pewter of all things) beat the 49ers.
San Francisco, however, is probably the bluest city of all right now, for so many reasons.
Yes, with 10 wins the Picker beat all comers and securely planted myself back above .500 for the season.
For week 10 I'm going to use another method. Each team that is not colored red or blue will win. If that doesn't work I'm going to flip a coin as usual.
