'Slanderous' letter questioned
Give me a break. Since when does the Homer News feel it is appropriate to allow letters to the editor that embarrass or harm someone's reputation? In the Nov. 7 paper there was a letter from Debbie Poore regarding Dr. Sayer and an alleged quote he had said seven years ago. This quote is, at best, something from her memory, and not really open to debate, since Dr. Sayer is probably not able to respond because of rules regarding disciplinary hearings.

I do not know what is going on at the hospital regarding this whole issue, and that really isn't even the point. I have a problem with the newspaper printing a one-sided account in what is supposed to be a fair and equal forum. There is a difference between giving people a chance to speak freely and being responsible about editing statements so close to slander.
