This weekend they head to the Dimond Classic. The regional tournament is Nov. 28.
The Mariners on Tuesday defeated the Stars 41-34 off two pins, one technical fall, where one opponent leads the other by 15 or more points, and four forfeit matches.
Mitch Wyatt pinned his opponent, Logan Patrick, continuing his reign at 152 pounds.
Josh Brandt pinned Ryan Dahlgren wrestling at 215 pounds.
At 145 pounds, Travis Catron "teched" his opponent, Dallin Carlson, 15-0.
After a grueling weekend of wrestling, Homer fell to Colony, Palmer, Eagle River and Chugiak at Skyview.
According to Coach Chris Perk, unfilled weight classes continue to be the Ms Achilles heel in the dual-match invitational format.
"Homer again forfeited four weight classes which equals 24 team points, we could not overcome this in the other four duals against Palmer, Eagle River, Colony and Chugiak, all big school opponents," he said.
No champions are crowned at the end of a dual-match invitational. Each team sinks or swims together, but even then, there remained a few individual standouts for Perk.
The team lynchpin, Mitch Wyatt, managed to come away undefeated, pinning all six of his opponents wrestling at 152 pounds.
Eli Garvey was undefeated at 103 pounds, posting 14 takedowns and a final moment push for a two-point takedown, a near fall and a win against Elisha Fields of Kodiak.
Perk predicts Garvey and Wyatt stand to take a serious run at the state tournament Dec. 5
Joe Resetarits, a freshman wrestling at 140-pounds, also managed three pins.
"All weekend the team wrestled with more heart and desire, something we need to finish the season with confidence," said Perk.
