Half an hour later, they had figured out a solution: a salt dough cornucopia. If you don’t already know, a cornucopia is a symbol of thanks and plenty.
To get the dough to be in the shape of a cornucopia, Mrs. Brown made molds out of tinfoil. She also showed the students how to get the dough to stick to the tinfoil and how to get it in the shape they wanted.
Once the whole class was finished making the cornucopias, the students picked out flowers and fake fruit to stuff and decorate the inside of their creations. When they had finished, the cornucopias went on display, where they can be seen by visitors to West Homer Elementary School.
Mrs. Brass’ sixth grade class would like to give a special thanks to everyone that helped in the making of our Thanksgiving project. Thanks.
Alicia Isenhour and Carly Snyder are students in Sue Brass’s sixth grade class at West Homer Elementary School.
