Kachemak Bay Campus holds a reception from 5-7 p.m. Tusday at the East Campus for its new art studio classroom — the last classroom to be renovated for the project that started in June. The new classroom includes furnishings and equipment for printmaking, painting, photography two-dimensional design and watercolor painting.
“It’s fabulous,” said Carol Swartz, Kachemak Bay Campus director.
The classroom was built with state funds and also with support from the Homer Foundation. This semester’s art classes will be held in the new studio starting next week.
Workshop, Jubilee at Pratt
The Pratt Museum invites artists and writers to celebrate all things creepy and crawly. Starting Jan. 24, the museum holds a series of workshops on insects. Upcoming events includes “Inspirtational Insects,” “Beaded Bugs,” “Entomology Discovery Lab” and “Illustration Techniques.” The workshops are to inspire artists and writers to create works for the “Beauty and the Bug” show next spring. The Pratt also has put out a call for entries for the show.
“Jubilee 2007,” the annual children’s art show, runs along with “Beauty and the Bug.” School entries are due by March 27. Both shows open April 6.
For submission guidelines, workshop schedules or more information, contact Ryjil Christianson at 235-8635, ext.22.
