I was reading the online edition of the Homer News when I came across the obituary of 32-year-old Homer resident Gabriel “Gabe” Dylan Ritchie who died in a vehicle accident on Nov. 2. I was very shocked about the recent death of Gabe. Gabe and I both graduated from the same senior class at Homer High School on May 31, 1991. I did not know Gabe very well when we were both seniors at Homer High School. However, I remember Gabe being very talented in the arts and he had a mind and a spirit that was unique and special. I can see why he chose to stay in Homer all of these years. Homer is the best place in the world for artists.

My heart and prayers go out to Gabe’s family and parents during this sad time as we remember Gabe and the wonderful, creative and artistic person he was for 32 years. I will miss Gabe. And, again, I offer my sincere condolences to his family and parents during this time of grief and the remembrance of a very good and kind man.
