"We're solid there in those four weight classes," said Mariner Head Coach Chris Perk. "Those four guys are pretty motivated to end the season where they want to be, which is tops in the state."
Homer scored 95 team points and finished fourth in a tough field of nine schools. The Colony Knights, led by division winners Chase Montgomery, Tim Edwards, Chad Lowery and Gunnar Nagle, won last weekend's Round Robin Rumble held at the Alice Witte Gymnasium.
Seniors Daigle and Brymer, wrestling at 140 and 145 pounds respectively, won their divisions, as did sophomore Wyatt.
Daigle, battling a hip injury, breezed through most of his competition en route to a final round defeat of Joe Martushev of Voznesenka.
Brymer faced a tough challenge in his finals match -- a meeting with Kyle Mundy of Cordova, the second ranked wrestler in Alaska small schools.
"That kid from Cordova is a good wrestler but Robbie beat him pretty good," Perk said of Brymer's 2-0 win over Mundy.
Wyatt (152) was the Mariners' third division winner at the tournament, taking out Colony's Joe Fujimoto 4-2 in the finals match.
"Mitch had a good all-around weekend," said Perk. "He really dominated Fujimoto and the score didn't reflect how bad he beat him. Mitch always works hard. He lifts weights and does everything 100 percent."
Daigle and Brymer are both currently ranked third in their divisions among Alaska large schools, according to akmat.org, and Wyatt is ranked fifth.
Weinfurter (160), who fell victim to the "muffler" at the Skyview Invitational the previous weekend, faced Soldotna's Braden Price in his finals match. Price, who used the unorthodox and potentially risky maneuver to pin Weinfurter 53 seconds into their match at Skyview, tried the "muffler" again in Homer.
"He tried it a couple of times but we neutralized it," said Perk. "It was a back and forth match the whole time and Eric was riding him tough in the third. It looked like Eric was going to turn him but it just didn't happen."
Price won the match 4-2 and Weinfurter came in second.
"He'll get another shot at Price at regions," said Perk.
The Mariner wrestlers will enjoy the week of Thanksgiving off before they return to practice in preparation for the regional tournament, to be held at Soldotna Dec. 5 and 6.
Perk was confident that his "Fab Four" would be successful at regionals.
"All four of those guys should be in the finals," he said.
