Homer Tree Lighting:

The Homer Chamber of Commerce’s retail committee is once again hosting Homer’s annual tree lighting ceremony at WKFL Park at 6 p.m. Friday. Santa will do the honors and hot cocoa will be served at the fire hall following the tree lighting.

Nutcracker Faire:

Sponsored by the Homer Council on the Arts, the event is from 11 a.m.-7:30 p.m. Saturday and noon-6 p.m. Sunday at Homer High School.

Nutcracker Ballet:

Performances for this holiday traditions are planted for 3 and 7:30 p.m. Saturday and 3 p.m. Sunday at Mariner Theatre. Performances also are scheduled for Dec. 8 and 9.

Anchor Point Tree Lighting:

Anchor Point’s community Christmas tree lighting will be at 2 p.m. Dec. 9 at Chapman School. Santa will be there. There will be caroling and refreshments.

Share the Spirit:

Spaghetti Feed: Preparation days will be Dec. 10 from 1 p.m. to 5-ish, Dec. 11 noon to 6-ish and Dec. 12 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.-ish. This provides a variety of times and tasks, so everyone can fit into the schedule. To get in on the fun, call the Share the Spirit information line at 235-7466 and leave a name and number. Someone will call you back in a day or two to sign you up.

Adopt-A-Family program: Applica-tions are located at Wells Fargo. Families are already being adopted.

Gift Trees: The ornaments will be up on trees at Ulmer’s, Safeway, Espresso Express, First National and Wells Fargo by Dec. 1. Choose an ornament or two and follow the instruction on the back.

Food Drives: Cans are located at Save-U-More, Safeway and Kachemak Whole-sale or send donations to school with your students. Most area schools hold drives for this project.

Gift wrapping: This will be Dec. 13 in the commons at Homer High School. Bring your own scissors and any leftover wrapping paper, bows, etc.
