Home for the holiday season

By Jennifer Henley

Some of you may have wondered where that Anchor Point column has been. I recently returned from the Lower 48. Yes, it is still all there, along with all the hustle and bustle. It reminded me of how lucky and blessed I am. Besides our majestic mountains, it’s the people, my family, who I miss the most. Hope you all had a grand turkey day. ’Tis time to remember, the reason for the season. The holiday season is a time to be joyful. It’s a time of thanks. It’s a great time to extend that hand and tell someone you care. The Christmas lights are starting to shine bright. It is something that I look forward to seeing. How spectacular they are. Mr. Winter is starting to head our way with snowflakes falling gently on the highways. So don’t forget to take some extra time wherever your destination takes you. Have a great weekend and be safe out there.

Anchor Point Chamber of Commerce

The speaker for next Wednesday’s luncheon is Capt. Mark Thielenhaus of the Salvation Army in Homer, who will be talking about their programs.  The luncheon will begin at noon at the Anchor River Inn.

Also, the chamber is looking for recommendations for a “Golden Deed Award.”

The chamber also is accepting nominations for businesses and residences that are exceptionally well decorated for the holidays. Sponsored by Homer Electric Association, an award of $100 energy credit will be given in each category. Nominations, including name, address and phone number, should be submitted to the chamber by calling 235-2600, e-mailing apcoc@xyz.net, or by filling out a nomination form available at local businesses.
