Gerda worked at the post office in Anchor Point, and retired as the Homer Postmaster in 1981. She was a lifetime member of the International Homemakers Association. She loved to travel and visited Europe, Africa and Australia. She loved arts and crafts and her crocheted items are found in the homes of her relatives and friends. She loved to attend football games in Gilmer and watch her great-great grandchildren play.

Gerda is survived by her daughter, Dixie Montgomery and husband Bill; son Dan Mumey and wife Robin; 11 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and 18 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Mumey, in 2008; and son, Bucky, in 1947.

There will be no memorial services per her wishes. She will be buried in Beaver Creek, Ore., near her husband and son.
