Homer students honored
Two Homer High School students were among those honored at the All-State High School Music Festival in Anchorage last week. Emily Kizzia, alto II, and Michael Toymil, tenor II, received all-state mixed choir first chair awards.
Award nominations accepted
Homer Council on the Arts is accepting nominations for the Board Arts Awards for 2005. Nominations must be received by 5 p.m. Jan. 3. Categories are group or individuals for arts leadership/advocacy award; arts education award; lifetime achievement award; individual artist of the year; and individual youth artist of the year. Council welcomes holiday season
Homer Council on the Arts is making the season merry and bright by sponsoring the following events:
HCOA Holiday Gift Store, open Tuesday-Friday, 9 a.m.-6 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
Nutcracker Faire at the Homer High School, 11 a.m.-7:30 p.m. Saturday; noon-6 p.m. Sunday.
Singing in the Season, a choral event for the family, at the Mariner Theatre, 6:30 p.m. Dec. 11. Ticket information available at HCOA, 235-4288.
Museum turns up heat for holidays
The Pratt Museum has scheduled the following activities for young and old:
The Museum Store is open 5-7 p.m. today especially for teachers. The evening includes refreshments and a one-time 20 percent discount for new memberships.
Fourth annual Festival of Gingerbread entries must be delivered to the museum by 5 p.m. Friday.
Annual quilt raffle sponsored by the Pratt Museum and Patrons of the Pratt Society and awards for best gingerbread creations, 1-4 p.m. Dec. 11. Raffle tickets are $1 each, $5 for 6, and are available at the museum or at the Nutcracker Faire.
