Pet of the Week

Daisy
When Daisy's people left she was sure they'd come back soon. They didn't. This mellow and loving 10-year-old calico cat was not prepared to hunt, find warm hiding places and certainly couldn't figure out how to get water from frozen puddles! Daisy was too terrified to ask for help, but fortunately a concerned neighbor trapped her and brought her to the shelter. Like many strays, Daisy is the victim of people who assume all cats can survive outside. Not true. Cats are not wild animals and they struggle to survive in the best of conditions. Now Daisy needs a new home, but she's grateful to be warm, well-fed and alive.

If you'd like to adopt a pet, call or stop by the Animal Shelter on the Bypass across from the post office. The shelter is open seven days a week, 11 a.m.- 2 p.m. Call 235-3141, e-mail pow@homeranimals.com, or visit the shelter's Web site at www.homeranimals.com.
