Deborah attended Smith College and received her registered nurse certificate from Bellevue Hospital, New York City, in 1934, and a bachelor of science degree in public health nursing from New York University. She worked as a nurse from 1929-1941, and was a missionary nurse in Fort Yukon, Alaska. She served in World War II in the Army Nurse Corps in frontline MASH units, achieving the rank of first lieutenant.
She is survived by her niece, Anne Robinson, of Homer, and nephews Michael Bacon and Selden (Samuel) Bacon Jr. of New Jersey; and life-long friend, Elsie Radford Fuller of Chelsea and her family.
Deborah was preceded in death by her brother Selden Jr. and sister, Anne.
