A Children's Film Festival in Homer in fall 2005 is in the works. The festival aims to developing a program to celebrate and explore visual media with children, from preschoolers to high school seniors. Planners hope to reach out to all those in the community who may want to be involved in making this dream a reality. The Pratt Museum is planning an exhibition titled "Alex and Friends" honoring the contributions of artist Alex Combs to Alaska and the state's artists. It will be held in the changing exhibitions gallery and lower level at the Pratt Museum and opens June 10. Artists from around Alaska, who consider themselves to have been greatly influenced by Combs, are invited to create a work or write a statement about Combs' influence on his or her creative process to be included in the exhibit. Artists interested in participating must notify Gale Parsons of his or her intent to participate and approximate size and media of work by e-mailing gparsons@prattmuseum.org or phoning 235-8635 extension 36 by Friday. Art for exhibition must arrive no later than June 6 delivered or shipped to the Pratt Museum in containers suitable for return shipping and be for sale.
