Funds awarded to CITC
The Cook Inlet Tribal Council has learned that it has received $100,000 from a $1 million group of federal grants secured by Alaska's congressional delegation. The money will be used for the Alaska's People System for Self-Sufficiency project to provide case management and job placement services.
Artwork due date nears
The due date for the Alaska Department of Fish and Game's sport fishing regulation booklet cover art contest is Saturday. Students in grades K-6 from Bristol Bay, Kodiak or Southcentral Alaska are eligible to submit entries. Illustrations must be on white, unlined paper. Each entry must have the student's name, school address, grade and teacher name written on the back. Text, logos and slogans are not encouraged. Nominations sought by chamber
The Homer Chamber of Commerce is accepting nominations for the outstanding business of the year and citizen of the year. Nomination forms and drop boxes are available at the chamber, city hall, First National Bank of Alaska, Fritz Creek General Store, Safeway, Spenard Builders Supply, Wells Fargo and Ulmers Drug and Hardware. A written description of the merits of the nominees must be included in the nomination. A committee will review all nominees, establish a ballot and open voting to the public in January. The Alaska Department of Fish and Game Division of Sportfish's plans for restocking Alaska's waters is available for public comment through Jan. 16. The plan calls for seven million fish to be released throughout the next five years.
