Kick off summer by biking

Summer is nearly here, and it is an excellent time to resolve to be more active andexplore Homer. “May is Bike Month” is a nationwide education effort and whether you bike to work or bike to school, bike along the Spit or fat-bike along the beach, “May is Bike Month” is a great way to kick off the summer.

Misused recall threatens process

I have worked with the Homer City Council, with city commissions, and with various city staff people over the last five years around practical challenges like Old Town and Pioneer Avenue revitalization, trails and sidewalks to schools. I believe every sitting council person, then and now, cares deeply about our community. Each represents a different Homer viewpoint. A council is designed to have different voices, and to be stronger as a result. They must work with each other, even when — especially when — viewpoints are different.

Cross-sector collaboration blooms

Winter is upon us and we would like to take a moment to celebrate the efforts of the Pioneer Avenue Revitalization Task Force, businesses and property owners, the City of Homer, artists, gardeners and community partners.

This cross-sector partnership has met since January to engage Homer’s arts, recreation and agricultural sectors to strengthen the economic, social and physical fabric of our historic downtown corridor.
