Skylar Paul and Paige Shubert were united in marriage on Aug. 23, 2014, at St. Salvator Lutheran Church in Venedy, Ill. Paige is the daughter of Deb and Terry Habrock and the late Craig Shubert of Oakdale. Skylar is the son of Rebecca Paul of Homer.
Ashley Hackstadt, sister of the bride, was the matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Jenna Lake, Juli Shubert, Marissa Paul, Rachel Segelhorst and Ella Herges. Kenley Hackstadt was the miniature bride and Kalli Portz was the flower girl.
Shelly and Buck Laukitis are pleased to announce the marriage of their daughter, Claire Laukitis, to Peter Neaton, son of Holly and Paul Neaton of Watertown, Minn. The couple were married on May 24, 2014, at Golden Gardens Park in Seattle. Claire, a 2008 graduate of Homer High School, and Peter, a 2007 graduate of Winsted Holy Trinity, met at the University of Vermont. They work as commercial fishermen and split their time between Alaska and Minnesota.
Tom and Laveda (Rinsink) Youngblood are celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary June 27, 2014. Married in Rocky Ford Colo., Tom and Laveda spent most of their years in Colorado. They retired to Homer so Tom can fish and Laveda can quilt.
Jessica Ford of both Nome and Charleston, W.Va., and Aaron Gilbert of Homer announce their engagement and upcoming marriage. Parents of the future bride are Melissa (Carpenter) Ford and Kevin Ford of Nome and Charleston, W.Va. Parents of the future groom are Dave and Kim Gilbert of Homer. Jessica is a 2007 graduate of Nome High School and a 2011 graduate of West Virginia University with a bachelor’s degree in philosophy. She is currently employed with Wells Fargo as a service manager in Anchorage.

Nathan and Anita Parker announce the engagement of their daughter, Kamara Danelle Parker, to Tayler Carter Barling, son of Randy Barling of Homer and Julie Carter of Kailua, Hawaii. The couple will be married April 26, 2014, in Siloam Springs, Ark.
Former Homer News employee Lindsay Johnson married Graham Kraft Dec. 27, 2013, in Haines. The ceremony was held at the couple’s lot overlooking Lynn Canal and officiated by Rachel Walton of Ketchikan. Afterwards, the 10-person party skied to sea level for an ocean plunge.
Kenneth R. Lemieux and Tanya Norris will marry at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7, 2013, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witnesses, 850 Sterling Highway.
Amy Johnson and Kelly Smith were joined in holy matrimony on Sept. 15, 2012, at the Christian Community Church. The bride’s son, Maxwell, walked his mother down the aisle to be with his new father. The ceremony was officiated by their pastor, David Taylor. In attendance for the bride were her maid of honor, Jennie Engebretsen, and bridesmaids Toni Ross and Jen Ryan. For the groom were his best man, Maxwell Johnson, and the bride’s two new sons, Mat Smith and David Smith. Granddaughter Briley served as flower girl.
Dooroo Kim, daughter of Jeeyoung and Youra Kim of Atlanta, Ga., and William Singhose, nephew of Beaver and Jessie Nelson of Homer, were married on July 22, 2013.
The outdoor ceremony was held at the Nelson home with Ron Simmons of Springfield, Ore., officiating the ceremony.
The bride graduated from the Georgia Institute of Technology with a master’s in mechanical engineering and worked at the Raytheon Company on the Patriot Missile defense system. She is currently a doctorate degree candidate.
Erin Walsh and Joshua Chambers were married June 29, 2013, in a ceremony at Wayfarer Farm in Langley, Wash. Attending were matron of honor, Taralee Adams; bridesmaids, Megan Hosch-Schmitt, Heather Hofius, Crystal O’Connor, Lauren Townsend, Natasha Phillips, and Patricia Bonilla; best man, Jason Chambers; groomsmen, Graham McAninch, Travis Stanley and Ryan Walsh; and ring-bearers, Pierce Adams, Kaswel Chambers and Cole Chambers. The ceremony was performed by Erin’s grandfather, Jerry Denman.
Katie McNary and Thomas Appelhanz, of Homer, were married in a small private ceremony at the Opryland Resort in Nashville, Tennessee on May 5, 2013.
In attendance were maid of honor Marissa Paul, bridesmaids Emma McNary and Andrea Bazacas, flower girls Chloe and Ava Bazacas, best man Sean Bazacas and groomsman Andrew Six. A reception luncheon followed at the resort.
Lillian Lane and Olaf Sundt were married Nov. 11, 2012, in Hawi, Hawaii, at the Hawaii Island Retreat. Lillian is the daughter of Don and Robin Lane of Homer. Olaf is the son of Keiko Sundt of Pima, Ariz., and Peter Sundt of Tucson, Ariz. Lilly and Oly plan to spend this winter at their home in Kuristown, Hawaii.
The beautiful shoreline at the Royal Lahiana Resort in Maui, Hawaii, on Oct. 12, 2012, was the site for the wedding between James Browning Olson and Heather Marie Frank, both of Anchorage. James is the son of Jeannette and Paul Morton of Homer, and James Olson of Wasilla. Heather is the daughter of Michael and Tammy Frank of Wasilla.
