The Race Against Time

Once there was a boy named Nicholas Sparks. He was a young boy and a good boy except for one thing...racing.  He would not walk home from school or jog home from school; he would race home from school against, well, pretty much everything.  He would race against squirrels, dogs, cats everything.  One time he thought,

"I wonder if ever I could race against time? Oh no, that's silly, never mind."

But his friend Jeremy Porkins said,

"Oh, of course you can, it's not silly."

            "But...but...how?" said Nicholas.

"Quite easily actually, just go to Time Lake."

"Where in the world is that place?"

            "In the middle of Nome"

            "What!!!!!!!"

            "Just joking"

            "Okay. Good, continue."

"So, it's really in a place called Abandoned Farm in Homer, Alaska ."

            "Wow, where's that?"

"In the Northern hemisphere or in other words in the north"

"Oh, well, lets go! Race you there!"

One week later ...

            "I won"

            "I guess you did,"

"Okay, when does the race start."

            "RIGHT NOW!!!!!"

At the race, the announcer called,

            "READY, SET, GO!"

"And Nicholas is the lead, but time is on his tail."

But first let us take a break. About your questions, you're probably thinking about time. Well, time turns out to actually be a guy. Right, got it so far. o.k., o.k. , O.k.  So let me go on, Time was a kid born in a small town.  In that town he had to be named Time because the ruler of the town names all newborn babies.  But that's not a problem any more in that town so that's o.k.  That's the story of Time.

Back to the story. In the time that I answered your questions Time got in the lead.    "Go Nicholas!!" yelled Jeremy.

That encouraged Nicholas so much that he sped up so much. It turned out he was way in front. He was only a few feet to the finish line and the unthinkable happened.

Nicholas was so sure he would win he sped down and Time thought it was time to go. This was his chance, so he sped up and got the lead.  (What happens next is the saddest part of this story.) Time won. Nicholas was so devastated he lost; he cried and he thought to himself,  this all my fault.  He was gloom like that for three years. The saddest part was that in those years Jeremy moved away to Texas and Nicholas thought he would never see him again. In college they met again and Jeremy whispered to Nicholas,

             "It's all right."

And with that Nicholas was back to normal and Nicholas fulfilled his dream and became a NASCAR racer. He still tells his story to this day.
