Homer helps homeless teens

The second “Fill A Stocking  For Homer’s 40 Homeless Youth” was a huge success. A huge thank you to American Legion, K-Bay Cafe, AJ’s Steakhouse, Earth Friendly Kids, and a few more wonderful businesses that offered to put out donation boxes for people to drop off to fill the handmade stockings donated by Debra Henderson. The event was led by Monica Sallee and J.J. O’Rourke with tremendous help by a senior doing his work project, Jacob Groff.

To all the volunteers who came out to organize and fill these stockings for these amazing homeless kids, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts. T.U.F.F. (Teens United for a A Future — volunteers for homeless youth and teens), thanks all that donated to this amazing, heartfelt event. Seeing 40-filled stockings being delivered to the homeless liason to give to our homeless kids in Kenai Peninsula Borough School District schools was nothing short of a holiday blessing. We are so grateful to help make these homeless children and teens’ holiday more special.

Here’s a little wish for next year: that we would not have to fill but a few because this community would find a way or an entity to build a shelter for these homeless families and teens. Thank you for all the love shared to our homeless population, Homer.
