The Kachemak Emergency Service Area Board holds its monthly board meeting at 7 p.m. today at the McNeil Canyon Fire Station, 53048 Ashwood Ave. (Mile 12 East End Road). The Pratt Museum and the Woodard Creek Coalition hold a work party to complete the Woodard Creek Trail to Pioneer Avenue from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday. Bring work gloves, shovels and extra wheelbarrows for carrying sand and wood chips. To help with preparation work before Saturday or for more information, call the Pratt at 435-3323.

The Kachemak Bay Birders’ next birding trip is 1:30 p.m. Saturday on the Homer Spit. Meet at the parking lot at the base of the Spit on Kachemak Drive. There is no charge and everyone is welcome. All trips are cosponsored by the Alaska Maritime National Wildlife Refuge.

The Kachemak Advocates of Recycling (KARe) meet from 4:30-6 p.m. Tuesday at the Center for Alaskan Coastal Studies Headquarters, 708 Smokey Bay Way. Please join them if you have an interest in recycling and would like to help out or would like to learn more about what the group does. The Omicron Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma holds its annual Back to School Supplies Project this month. Help local children in need start their school year on a positive note by purchasing school supplies and backpacks for them. Contributions can be left in the brightly colored receptacle inside Ulmer’s Drug and Hardware. Shopping lists are on the donation container. The program benefits more than 100 children.

The Boat House Committee seeks to raise $33,000 before the end of August. By reaching that goal, the committee can leverage an additional $25,000 from the Rasmuson Foundation and reaching it $210,000 project total. Donations can be made through the Homer Foundation at its secure online donation site at http://bit.ly/2b0R8ov. Donations also can be made by check to Boat House/Homer Foundation, P.O. Box 1498, Homer, AK 99603.

Anchor Point Senior Citizens

The Anchor Point Senior Center on Milo Fritz Road is open 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Thursday and 9 a.m.-noon Friday. The center serves Thursday night dinners starting at 5:30 p.m. Everyone is welcome. Bingo is at 6:30 p.m. with doors opening at 6 p.m. on Friday nights. The Helping Hands Thrift Store is open on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Exercise sessions are at 10 a.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays. Cooperative Extension Center

The Alaska Crop Protection Pest Management Program offers free site visits to assist with your pest problems and offer Integrated Pest Management solutions. Friendship Center

Friendship Center Adult Day Services is open 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday-Friday with extended hours for special situations. Programs are offered daily, including story time, crafts and musical performances. Call 235-4556.

Homer Senior Citizens

Homer Senior Citizens lunch is open to seniors and guests and is served noon-1:30 p.m. Monday-Friday. The lunch menu for this week is: today, roast beef with mashed potatoes and gravy; Friday, battered cod; Monday, plum glazed Cornish game hens; Tuesday, beef stroganoff; Wednesday, Cuban pork; next Thursday, roast turkey with mashed potatoes and gravy.

Strong Women classes are 1:30-2:30 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday at the Homer Senior Center. The cost is $3 for members and $6 for nonmembers per class.

Zumba Gold classes with Maria are 11 a.m.-noon Tuesdays and 1:30-2:30 p.m. Thursdays at the Homer Senior Center. The cost per class is $4 for members, $6 for nonmembers.

Duplicate Bridge meets at 1 p.m. Thursdays. Tai chi classes are Thursdays at 3 p.m. The cost per class is $3 for members and $6 for nonmembers. Call Daniel Weisser at 235-4555.
