Barbara Lavallee visits Art Shop Gallery

Artist Barbara Lavallee visits the Art Shop Gallery from 1-6 p.m. Saturday. She will sign new prints and personalize and sign old prints and books.

 

‘Grace & Glorie’ opens at Pier One Theatre

“Grace & Glorie,” the next play to show at Pier One Theatre, opens at 7:30 p.m. Friday. Directed by Linda Ellsworth, the play by Tom Zeigler tells the story about a New York woman, Glorie, who becomes a hospice volunteer to Grace, an elderly and ailing cancer patient. Through struggling initially to get along, the two women eventually form a strong bond. The play continues July 23, 24 and July 28, 30, with all shows at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $15 general admission, $14 seniors, $13 Raven’s Club and $10 youth, on sale at the Homer Bookstore.

 

KPO Summer Music

Festival starts July 31

Kenai Peninsula Orchestra’s annual Summer Music Festival starts July 31 as part of the Homer Garden Club’s tour and reception. A wind ensemble performs at the reception (see story, page 2).

Its noon-time tunes concerts begin Aug. 1 at locations around the Kenai Peninsula, including Homer, Kenai and Soldotna. The Madison String Quartet returns with chamber concerts at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 5 at Christ Lutheran Church, Soldotna, and 7:30 p.m. Aug. 8 at Faith Lutheran Church, Homer. The Navy Winds perform 7:30 p.m. Aug. 8 at Christ Lutheran Church, Soldotna, 7:30 p.m. Aug. 9 at Christian Community Church, Homer, and 5:30 p.m. Aug. 10 at the Kenai Community Library.

The KPO gala concert with music by Mily Balakirev, Alexander Borodin and Serge Prokofiev is at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 12 at the Homer Mariner Theatre. Tickets are on sale at the Homer Bookstore and the door.
