Aug. 2

A caller at 2:42 a.m. reported a theft from a business on East Pioneer Avenue. An officer responded to the location.

A person at 11:26 a.m. went to the police station to request multiple welfare checks be made on Jenny Way. An officer went to that location.

An officer at 3:38 p.m. assisted medics on East Fairview Avenue.

An officer at 6:52 p.m. assisted the Homer Volunteer Fire Department with smoke in a building on West Cityview Avenue.

A caller at 9:35 p.m. reported a person camping in an unauthorized area at Main Street and Ohlson Lane. An officer responded and advised the camper to move along.

A man at 11:17 p.m. notified the police station that there was a suspicious circumstance on West Pioneer Avenue. An officer responded but was unable to locate anything suspicious.

A caller at 11:38 p.m. reported a man staggering near the roadway on Main Street and loud suspicious cars circling the neighborhood. An officer responded and contacted the man, who was not driving. The officer warned the man of the traffic hazard.

Aug. 3

A caller at 2:55 p.m. reported an unattended death on Hillside Place. An officer and medics went to the scene.

A caller from a local business at 8:05 p.m. reported a shoplifter at the business on West Pioneer Avenue. An officer went to the location.

Officers at 8:12 p.m. contacted people at an illegal campsite on Bishop’s Beach.

A caller at 11:16 p.m. reported an intoxicated man staggering in the roadway at Main Street and the Sterling Highway. Officers went to the area but weren’t able to find anyone matching the man’s description.

Aug. 4

A caller at 12:51 a.m. reported his tires had been slashed in a parking lot on Greatland Street. Officers responded.

A caller at 11:38 a.m. reported a motorbike on the beach at Mile 0.5 Spit Road. An officer responded to the area.

A caller at 12:42 p.m. made a Report Every Dangerous Driver Immediately (REDDI) report of a driver drinking beer while driving on Homer Bypass Road. An officer responded to the area but didn’t find the driver.

A caller at 2:02 p.m. reported a woman causing a disturbance and throwing items at people getting into their vehicles on the Sterling Highway. An officer went to the scene.

A caller at 3:31 p.m. reported a man sleeping outside bathrooms at Pioneer Avenue and Bartlett Street, with his “belongings all over.” An officer responded and advised the man to move along.

A caller at 7:15 p.m. reported people camping in a car in a parking lot on West Soundview Avenue. An officer responded and advised the people to move somewhere else.

A caller at 9:40 p.m. reported a woman passed out in her tent at Mile 2 Spit Road. An officer went to the scene and found an intoxicated woman. She was transported to a hotel for the night but was later trespassed from the building. The 41-year-old woman was arrested for making a false report and taken to the Homer Jail.

A caller at 10:01 p.m. reported that a dog had been injured with a rock on Spit Road. An officer went to the scene and the dog was taken to a medical facility.

A caller at 10:38 p.m. reported their child left their home on Mattox Road after a verbal dispute. An officer contacted the child and returned them home.

Aug. 5

A caller at 2:22 a.m. reported a domestic dispute on Lakeside Court. Officers went to the scene and issued a person involved a disorderly conduct warning.

A caller at 2:34 a.m. reported a domestic dispute. An officer responded to the scene and interviewed those involved. The officer found no crime had been committed and gave a disorderly conduct warning.

Officers at 10:49 a.m. assisted medics on Karen Hornaday Road.

A caller at 1:30 p.m. reported sounds of yelling and a domestic dispute on Beluga Court. Officers went to the scene.

An officer at 2:07 p.m. contacted campers on Bishop’s Beach and advised them of city camping rules.

A caller at 3:01 p.m. requested that a man be issued a trespass notice to keep him from a business on West Bunnell Avenue. An officer went to the scene.

Aug. 6

A caller at 12:07 a.m. reported a loud, suspicious vehicle in the neighborhood on Main Street. An officer went to the location and advised the people involved to keep it down.

A caller at 12:11 a.m. reported a vehicle in the ditch at West Hill Road and Skyline Drive. An officer went to the location.

A caller at 5:58 a.m. reported a vehicle that was over an embankment in the fishing lagoon on the Homer Spit. An officer went to the location and arrested the 77-year-old male driver on an arrest warrant.

A caller at 1:49 p.m. reported hearing sounds of a high powered rifle in the area of Tamara Street. An officer went to the area but didn’t find anything.

A caller at 4:54 p.m. reported a vehicle collision in a parking lot on Homer Bypass Road. An officer went to the scene.

A caller at 3:15 p.m. requested assistance with traffic control for a high-centered motorhome at Spit Road and FreightDock Road. An officer went to the scene.

Aug. 7

A caller at 4:52 p.m. reported people panhandling outside a business on Homer Bypass who who were refusing to leave. Officers went to the scene and arrested a 26-year-old man and a 41-year-old man for trespassing.

An officer at 6:21 p.m. contacted a woman at a business on Homer Bypass Road and arrested the 47-year-old for trespassing and possessing an amphetamine.

A caller at 6:24 p.m. reported a third-party remand on Ohlson Lane. An officer went to the location and remanded the person.

A caller at 7:19 p.m. reported a noise complaint on Jack Gist Lane. An officer went to the location.

A caller at 10:13 p.m. made a REDDI report on a vehicle at East End Road and Ben Walters Lane. Officers contacted the driver.

Aug. 8

A caller at 9 a.m. reported suspicious activity on Bishop’s Beach. An officer went to the location and informed some people of the city regulations regarding camping.

Officer at 9:15 a.m. conducted a drug investigation at Bishop’s Beach. They arrested a 49-year-old man for fourth-degree misconduct involving a controlled substance.

A caller at 5:39 p.m. reported a vehicle passing illegally at Kachemak Drive and Ocean Drive, forcing vehicles to take evasive action to avoid a collision. An officer went to the area but couldn’t find the driver.

Multiple callers at 6:05 p.m. made a REDDI report on a vehicle at Mile 3 Spit Road. Officers responded and arrested the 22-year-old man for driving under the influence and took him into protective custody. The vehicle was impounded.

A caller at 7:50 p.m. reported finding a loaded gun let unattended in a public bathroom at Spit Road and Freight Dock Road. An officer responded and gave the gun back to the registered owner.

Aug. 9

An officer at 9 a.m. assisted medics on East Pioneer Avenue.

A caller at 10:24 a.m. reported seeing a man urinating in public on Ohlson Lane.

A caller at 1:52 p.m. reported a dog barking on Spit Road. An officer advised animal control. The registered owner later returned.

A caller at 2:11 p.m. reported a verbal threat on the Sterling Highway after the fact. An officer went to the scene.

A caller at 2:37 p.m. requested a welfare check for a vehicle at Main Street and Ohlson Lane. An officer went to the scene.

A caller at 7:56 p.m. reported a dog barking and tied up for an extended period of time with no food or water on Fish Dock Road. An officer went to the scene but didn’t find a dog.

A caller at 10:37 p.m. reported a vehicle parked on the side of the road for a long time on Rogers Loop. An officer went to the scene.

Aug. 10

An officer at 10:12 a.m. assisted medics on Shirley Court.

A caller at 10:32 a.m. requested a welfare check on Town Heights Lane. An officer went to the scene and found all was OK.

An officer at 11 a.m. made a security check of Karen Hornaday Road.

A caller at 11:28 a.m. reported a traffic hazard on Homer Bypass Road. An officer went to the scene.

A caller at 4:43 p.m. made a REDDI report on a person driving a dirtbike who was breaking traffic laws and speeding at Ben Walters Lane and East End Road. An officer was advised.

An officer at 10:16 p.m. contacted a driver who had a suspended license on Ocean Drier and advised the driver of the suspended license status.

Aug. 11

A caller at 1:24 a.m. requested that police remove guests from a hotel on the Sterling Highway. Officers went to the location and evicted the guests.

A caller at 1:11 p.m. reported that a vehicle had come onto her front yard on Charles Way. Officers responded to the area.

An officer at 7 p.m. gave a man on Ocean Drive a warning for public marijuana consumption.

Aug. 12

A caller at 12:31 a.m. made a REDDI report on a vehicle on the Homer Spit. Officers contacted the driver and arrested the 29-year-old man for driving under the influence.

An officer at 4:15 a.m. found a loose dog in the roadway on East Pioneer Avenue and took it in for safekeeping.

A caller at 12:35 p.m. reported a vehicle collision on East End road, causing possible road blockage. Officers responded to the scene.

A caller at 1:37 a.m. had questions about parenting her daughter. An officer spoke with the caller.

A caller at 2:55 p.m. reported finding two dogs and said they would keep them until the animal shelter opened. The owner of the dogs later reported them missing and was advised where to pick them up.

A caller at 4:01 p.m. reported a dirt bike traveling on the bicycle path at East End Road and Kachemak Drive. An officer contacted the rider and gave them a citation. The dirt bike was impounded.

A caller at 6 p.m. reported a suspicious vehicle on Cozy Cove Drive. An officer went to the area.

Troopers

July 22

Alaska State Troopers at approximately 10:01 p.m. responded to a 911 open line verbal disturbance at approximately mile 164 of the Sterling Highway. A male and female were yelling at each other. Investigation revealed there was no assault, but the man, later identified as 59 years old of Anchor Point, was impaired by alcohol. The man drove to the area in a Ford truck. He was arrested for DUI.

July 31

Alaska State Troopers at 1:20 p.m. received a report of an assault which had just taken place at a residence on Taku Ave in Homer. An investigation showed a 33-year-old Homer man had assaulted another male over a property dispute. He was arrested and remanded into the Homer Jail where bail was set at $1,000.

Aug. 7

Alaska State Troopers at 9:27 a.m. received a report of a vehicle on the beach at Deep Creek that was threatened by the rising tide. An investigation showed the vehicle had been stolen from a residence in Ninilchik sometime during the night and abandoned on the beach. The owner responded and recovered the vehicle. The investigation is ongoing.

Alaska State Troopers at 11:22 a.m. received a report of a chainsaw which had been stolen from a shed over the winter. An investigation showed the chainsaw had been stolen from the shed which was located on Walter Thomas Ave in Homer while the owner was out of state.

Alaska State Troopers at 2:50 p.m. received a report of a stolen vehicle from the Anchor Point area. A 33-year-old Anchor Point man reported his vehicle had been stolen from a local church parking lot sometime during the previous two weeks. The investigation is on going.
