Homer Police

Dec. 3

A caller at 8:23 p.m. reported a man and woman causing a disturbance at the caller’s home on Main Street. Officers went to the location and contacted the people at the scene. One 35-year-old woman was issued a summons for fourth-degree assault.

Dispatch got a 911 call and hangup at 10:03 p.m. An officer went to the location of the call to investigate. The officer found everything was OK, and the man refused to let officers onto his vessel.

Dec. 4

A caller at 1:11 a.m. reported that her daughter had run away on Lake Street. An officer spoke with the caller. The girl was found and returned to the parent.

A caller at 6:18 a.m. reported that their roommate was being verbally abusive on Noview Avenue. An officer went to the scene.

Dec. 5

An alarm company at 12:39 a.m. reported an alarm on Ocean Drive. An officer responded. They keyholder also responded and the building was found to be secure.

A caller at 11:58 a.m. reported an abandoned vehicle in a parking lot on Homer Bypass Road.

A caller at 12:40 p.m. reported a dead man in a residence on East End Road. Officers went to the location.

A caller at 4:45 p.m. reported a minor vehicle collision at East Hill Road and East End Road. An officer was advised.

A caller at 6:51 p.m. requested that a welfare check be made on his friend on Jenny Way who he hadn’t heard from. An officer went to the location, contacted the friend and found everything was OK.

An officer at 7:13 p.m. contacted a woman with an arrest warrant on Heidi Court and arrested her on charges of failing to appear in court. The 32-year-old woman was taken to the Homer Jail.

A local utility at 8:25 p.m. asked for assistance with a possible hazard on East Pioneer Avenue. An officer went to the scene.

An officer at 10:23 p.m. came upon a vehicle in the ditch on Kachemak Drive while on patrol. The officer issued one man a DUI warning.

Dec. 6

A caller at 2:26 a.m. reported a vehicle with a generator running on East End Road that was causing a disturbance. An officer contacted the person, who agreed to turn it off.

A caller at 3:38 a.m. requested that a welfare check be made on a person on East End Road. An officer went to the scene. The officer didn’t detect any impairment; the person was just sleeping.

A caller at 8:40 a.m. reported a vehicle collision with a moose on East End Road. An officer went to the scene. There was no injury to the driver and no road blockage.

A caller at 10:09 a.m. reported someone violating conditions of release on Rainbow Court. Officers went to the scene but couldn’t locate the person. Charges of violating conditions of release were forwarded to the District Attorney.

An officer at 1:30 p.m. stopped a vehicle on Kachemak Drive for having no license plate on a trailer. The driver, a 56-year-old man, was arrested for driving with his license revoked and was remanded to the Homer Jail.

A caller at 7:18 p.m. requested a welfare check be made on their neighbor on Rochelle Road. An officer went to the location and found everything was OK.

An officer at 8:19 p.m. assisted Alaska State Troopers with a vehicle collision at Mile 163 Sterling Highway.

An officer at 9:08 p.m. stopped a vehicle for speeding and crossing the center line at East End Road and Waterman Road. The 36-year-old male driver was arrested on an outstanding warrant for failing to appear in court.

Dec. 7

A caller at 1:32 a.m. made a Report Every Dangerous Driver Immediately (REDDI) report on a vehicle on Shelford Street. An officer contacted the driver and arrested the 45-year-old woman for driving while intoxicated.

A caller at 11:15 a.m. requested that a welfare check be made on a man on West Fairview Avenue. An officer went to the scene and found everything was OK.

A caller at 1:23 p.m. reported that a vehicle ran into her front door on West Fairview Avenue. An officer went to the scene and issued a summons to a 25-year-old woman for disorderly conduct.

A caller at 3:56 p.m. reported that a wanted person was on Soundview Avenue. An officer went to the location and arrested a 53-year-old man on an arrest warrant for failing to appear in court.

An officer at 10:33 p.m. gave a driver a DUI warning on East End Road.

A caller at 10:44 p.m. reported noise in a construction area on West Fairview Avenue. An officer responded.

Dec. 8

An officer at 1:05 a.m. stopped a vehicle at East End Road and Compass Drive for reckless driving and arrested a 30-year-old man for driving under the influence and refusing to take a chemical test.

An officer at 2:51 a.m. issued a driver a DUI warning at East End Road and Ben Walters Road.

An officer at 3:41 a.m. provided transportation for a person at East End Road and Compass Drive.

An officer at 4:28 a.m. stopped a vehicle on the Sterling Highway for failing to use their blinker and ended up arresting the driver, a 50-year-old man, for driving under the influence.

A caller at 11:05 a.m. reported a domestic issue on Linda Court. An officer went to the scene and arrested a 53-year-old man for fourth-degree assault and violating conditions of release.

A caller at 11:21 p.m. reported a domestic dispute on Klondike Avenue. Officers went to the scene.

Dec. 9

Officers at 2:50 a.m. issued a camping warning on Freight Dock Road.

A caller at 11:17 a.m. reported road flooding on East End Road. The Department of Transportation was advised.

A caller at 11:44 a.m. reported a break-in after the fact on Main Street. An officer went to the scene and found that everything was OK and that a shed had been damaged by high winds.

A caller at 12:47 p.m. reported a vehicle collision in a parking lot on Homer Bypass Road. An officer took a report.

A caller at 1:32 p.m. reported a vehicle collision at Lake Street and Smokey Bay Way that had caused damage. Officers went to the scene and contacted the people involved.

A caller at 2:30 p.m. reported that their vehicle tires had been slashed on Homer Bypass Road. An officer went to the scene.

An officer at 8:19 p.m. got a report of a vehicle in the ditch at East Hill Road and Barnett Place. An officer went to the area but wasn’t able to find a vehicle in the ditch.

A caller at 9:32 p.m. reported hazardous road conditions on Kachemak Drive. Officers went to the area.

Troopers

Dec. 6

Alaska State Troopers at approximately 7:50 p.m. received a “report every dangerous driver immediately” complaint involving a green Jeep near Mile 163 of the Sterling Highway. Troopers located the vehicle in the ditch and discovered the driver, a 25-year-old Anchor Point man, was not with the vehicle. As Troopers investigated, the man emerged from the roadside, walked into the path of a southbound vehicle and was struck. The man sustained serious injuries and was transported by Anchor Point EMS to South Peninsula Hospital and then to Anchorage by air medevac. The driver of the vehicle that struck the man was cooperative. Investigation into the incident is ongoing.
