Homer Volunteer Fire Department

Feb. 7-14

Firefighters and emergency medical technicians responded to eight medical calls and two fire calls.

Feb. 12

Firefighters went to a powerline on fire on West Hill Road and Skyline Drive.

Firefighters went to a smell of natural gas on Kachemak Drive.

Feb. 7-14

Emergency medical technicians responded to six EMS calls and three fire calls.

Firefighters and emergency medical technicians responded to four medical calls and one fire call.

Homer Police

Feb. 8

Homer Police at 8:22 p.m. attempted to locate a wanted subject at a Homer residence. Police found the person, a 38-year-old Homer man, and arrested him on two warrants for failure to appear in court. Police also arrested a 60-year-old Homer person and a 39-year-old Homer man on charges of second-degree hindering prosecution.

Police at 6:38 p.m. received a report of a violation of a protective order. On Feb. 9 they found and arrested the suspect, a 55-year-old Homer men, for violating a stalking protective order and violating conditions of release.

Feb. 9

Police at 8:10 a.m. received a report of an expected death at home of a person at a Mission Road address.

Police at 8:43 a.m. went to a motor vehicle collision at Pioneer Avenue and the Sterling Highway and arrested a 44-year-old Homer woman for driving under the influence.

Feb. 11

Police at 12:15 p.m. arrested a 21-year-old Anchor Point man for failure to schedule a remand on a charge of driving under the influence. He was taken to the Homer Jail.

Police at 2:55 p.m. investigated a report of violating conditions of release. Police arrested a 23-year-old Ninilchik man on charges of 12 counts of violating conditions of release and 12 counts of unlawful contact. On Feb. 12 he was charged with seven more counts of unlawful contact and seven more counts of violating conditions of release.

Alaska State Troopers

Feb. 8

Alaska State Troopers at 12:46 p.m. received a report of a vehicle in the ditch on North Fork Road near Sayer Road . An investigation showed a 40-year-old of Anchor Point woman was driving the vehicle under the influence of alcohol. It was also found that she had a 3-year-old child in the vehicle at the time. She was arrested and transported to the Homer Jail where her breath alcohol level was found to be .317%. She was charged with driving under the influence and endangering the welfare of a minor in the first degree and released to a sober adult.

Feb. 9

Troopers at 1:20 a.m received a report from a 49-year-old Home woman that she was stuck in a gully on her snowmachine in the McNeil Canyon area and that she was cold, tired and had injured herself trying to get her snowmachine out of the gull. Kachemak Emergency Services responded and located her about 2 miles from the trail head and transported her to South Peninsula Hospital for treatment of her non-life threatening injuries and hypothermia.
