Homer Volunteer Fire Department

Aug. 1-7

Firefighters and emergency medical technicians responded to four Advanced Life Support emergencies, four Basic Life Support emergencies, for a total of eight EMS related calls. In addition, there were zero fire investigations.

Kachemak Emergency Services

Aug. 8-14

Firefighters and emergency medical technicians responded to one medical call and one fire call.

Western Emergency Services

Aug. 8-14

Firefighters and emergency medical technicians responded to 12 medical calls and two fire calls.

Homer Police

Aug. 10

At 11:49 p.m., a Homer Police Officer conducted a traffic stop. A 37-year-old Texas man was arrested for felony driving under the influence, refusal and resisting arrest. The man was remanded to the Homer Jail.

Aug. 11

At 1:14 a.m. Homer Police received a report of a vehicle on fire. Police and the Homer Volunteer Fire Department responded. A 20-year-old Anchor Point resident was arrested for DUI and remanded to the Homer Jail.

Aug. 12

At 2:59 a.m., officers responded to the Beluga Lake Lodge to conduct a welfare check on a female. A 42-year-old Homer resident was also contacted and arrested for violation of conditions of released and was remanded to the Homer Jail.

At 5:15 p.m., an officer responded to Ulmer’s Drug and Hardware for a report of a shoplifter. A 50-year-old Homer resident was arrested for fourth-degree theft and remanded to the Homer Jail.

Aug. 14

At 9 a.m., officers responded to a report of an assault. As a result a 35-year-old Homer resident was arrested for fourth-degree assault and violating conditions of release and remanded to Homer Jail.

Alaska State Troopers

Aug. 9

At 2:23 p.m., Alaska State Troopers stopped a vehicle near Mile 162 Sterling Highway for speeding. The driver was identified as a 25-year-old Anchor Point man. During the stop it was determined that the person was driving the vehicle in violation of their instructional permit. The perpetrator was given a summons to appear and released.

Aug. 13

At 5:42 p.m., Troopers responded to a disturbance off Bev Avenue in Ninilchik. Investigation revealed a 36-year-old Soldotna woman had recently returned home driving a vehicle and was found to be under the influence of alcohol. The woman was placed under arrest for DUI. The perpetrator was transported to Homer Jail, where she was remanded. Bail was set at her own recognizance.

Aug. 14

At 10:32 p.m., Troopers in Anchor Point conducted a traffic stop on the Old Sterling Highway for a moving violation. Investigation determined the driver, a 52-year-old Anchor Point man, was under the influence of alcohol and was in possession of a handgun. The man was arrested and refused to provide a breath sample as required. The man was remanded to the Homer Jail for DUI, fourth-degree misconduct involving weapons, and refusal to submit to a chemical test.

Aug. 15

At 3:55 p.m., Troopers in Anchor Point conducted a traffic stop on North Fork Road for a seat belt violation. Investigation determined the driver, a 42-year-old Anchor Point man, had a suspended driver’s license for failure to pay child support and he had been previously convicted of driving while license revoked, suspended or canceled. The man was issued a misdemeanor summons for driving while license suspended in the Homer Court.

Aug. 16

At about midnight, Troopers in Anchor Point received a report of a female refusing to leave a vehicle and property on North Fork Road. Troopers responded and contacted a 23-year-old Homer woman on the property. The woman was arrested and remanded to the Homer Jail for second-degree criminal trespass, two counts, and violating conditions of release, two counts, due to being on conditions of release from a pending court case. Alcohol was a contributing factor.
