Homer Police

May 28

A caller at 12:08 a.m. reported possible gunshots or fireworks at Bayview Avenue and Hohe Street. The caller said the sounds were in the area of his employer. Officers went to the location but were unable to locate anything.

A caller at 1:09 a.m. reported shots fired or fireworks on West Pioneer Avenue. An officer went to the location but was unable to locate the source of the noises.

A caller at 1:52 a.m. reported suspicious people in the area of their business on Main Street. Officers went to the scene.

A caller at 4:08 a.m. reported that his intoxicated brother would not get out of his vehicle on Homer Bypass Road. Officers went to the scene.

An officer at 2:36 p.m. warned a driver for speeding at Mile 2 Kachemak Drive.

A caller at 10:20 p.m. reported a camping violation at Mile 3 Spit Road. An officer went to the location but was unable to locate the violation.

Officers at 11:12 p.m. assisted the Homer Volunteer Fire Department on Spit Road.

A caller at 11:29 p.m. reported a vehicle parked and unoccupied in a lane of travel in a parking lot on Homer Bypass Road. An officer went to the scene.

May 29

A 57-year-old man went to the front counter at the police station at 10:45 a.m. to take care of a correctable ticket. He was arrested for driving under the influence.

A caller at 2:41 p.m. reported a man who wouldn’t leave their property on Spit Road. The caller requested the man be issued a trespass notice for life. Officers responded to the scene but were unable to locate the man.

A caller at 4:04 p.m. reported vandalism in Ben Walters Park. An officer was notified.

A caller at 4:56 p.m. reported a debris hazard in the floatplane basin on Beluga Lake. Officers notified the proper agency, which responded to investigate/remove the debris.

A caller at 11:54 p.m. reported a medical emergency with a vehicle enroute to South Peninsula Hospital. An officer responded to the location.

May 30

Officers at 3:02 p.m. assisted an agency in responding to a moose that had been hit and killed on Chakok River Road.

A caller at 3:34 p.m. made a Report Every Drunk Driver Immediately (REDDI) report on a vehicle at Pioneer Avenue and Lake Street. An officer attempted to find the driver but was not successful.

A caller at 3:48 p.m. reported an unconscious man on a walking path at Grubstake Avenue and Poopdeck Trail who was not responsive. Officers and medics responded to the area and found the report was unfounded.

A caller at 8:11 p.m. reported a vehicle trespassing on private property in the area behind his home on Cabana Court. An officer went to the area.

A caller at 9:07 p.m. reported suspicious activity at Mile 1 Kachemak Drive. Officers responded to the location.

An officer at 11:25 p.m. arrested a 41-year-old man on a warrant on Main Street.

May 31

An officer at 8:39 a.m. arrested a 38-year-old man on an outstanding warrant at Mile 1 East End Road.

A caller at 11:14 a.m. reported a vehicle parked on a restricted area of the beach on Spit Road. An officer went to the location but the vehicle was already gone.

A caller at 1:40 p.m. reported threats being made on Ocean Driver. An officer went to the location.

A caller at 4:52 p.m. reported a possible wanted person on Lake Street. An officer went to the scene and arrested the 30-year-old man on charges of failure to appear and criminal trespass.

An officer at 5:39 p.m. contacted a driver at Crittenden Drive and Homer Bypass Road, and found the driver had a revoked license. The officer issued the 28-year-old man a summons.

An officer at 7:41 p.m. gave a man a trespass warning on East Pioneer Avenue.

An officer at 11:07 p.m. warned a driver for speeding at Mariner Drive and East End Road.

A caller at 11:27 p.m. requested a patrol of her neighborhood at Bay Vista Place and Bay Vista Court. An officer went to the area.

An officer at 11:37 p.m. warned a driver for speeding at Glenview Avenue and the Sterling Highway.

June 1

A caller at 2:30 a.m. reported campers in the next space over on Spit Road were being loud and disruptive. An officer went to the area.

A caller at 4:08 a.m. reported a man who was trespassing on the Sterling Highway and becoming aggressive when asked to leave. Officers went to the area but were unable to locate the man.

A caller at 10:35 a.m. reported two suspicious men in the area of Karen Hornaday Road. An officer made a security check of the area.

A caller at 10:57 a.m. reported a man harassing people with religious paraphernalia at Mile 169 Sterling Highway. The caller stated that the man “wouldn’t leave them alone.” An officer went to the area and found no criminal activity had occurred.

Alaska State Troopers passed on a REDDI report. An officer at 4:07 p.m. contacted the driver at Main Street and the Homer Bypass. The officer noted no impairment.

An officer at 4:30 p.m. removed debris from the roadway on Kachemak Drive.

A caller at 5:57 p.m. reported that a man left South Peninsula Hospital against medical advisement. Officers put out a “be on the lookout” notice.

A caller at 7:07 p.m. reported a suspicious man in the area of Skyline Drive and Cozy Cove Drive. An officer was unable to locate the man.

Officers at 7:39 p.m. arrested a 39-year-old man for driving under the influence at Mile 2 Spit Road.

A caller at 7:59 p.m. reported excessive noise coming from Jack Gist Park. An officer went to the area.

A caller at 10:43 p.m. reported campers spending the night in a scenic parking area at Main Street and Ohlson Lane. An officer went to the area and was unable to locate the campers. When the officer returned later the vehicle was gone.

An officer at 11:10 p.m. contacted an unoccupied vehicle at Crittenden Driver and Waddel Street that had an animal locked inside. The officer contacted the vehicle owner in regard to the animal’s wellbeing.

June 2

An officer at 1:45 a.m. contacted a man driving with an expired operating license at East End Road and Kachemak Driver. The officer warned the driver to renew the license before driving again.

An officer at 3:55 a.m. impounded a vehicle that was parked on the sidewalk at Mile 171 Sterling Highway.

A caller at 4:55 a.m. requested help with an intoxicated patron that the caller wanted removed on East Pioneer Avenue. An officer went to the scene and gave the patron a disorderly conduct warning.

A caller at 8:12 a.m. reported the theft of a vehicle on Kachemak Drive. The vehicle was recovered unoccupied.

A caller at 8:45 a.m. reported a vehicle stolen on Ocean Drive. The report ended up being unfounded and was due to “mistaken identity.”

A caller at 11:51 a.m. reported an issue with their water pressure. Officers notified the public works department.

A caller at 5:50 p.m. reported a person driving an ATV recklessly in the neighborhood at Bonanza Avenue and Lucky Shot Street. An officer went to the area and the parents of the minor driving the ATV was contacted.

A caller at 7:59 p.m. reported a vehicle crash at FAA Road and Ocean Drive that had caused damage. Officers went to the scene.

Multipel callers at 8:27 p.m. reported a generator smoking/steaming on a road project at Lake Street and Brown Bear Loop. The project manager was contacted.

A caller at 8:43 p.m. made a REDDI report on a vehicle on Homer Bypass Road. Officers went to the area, contacted the driver, and arrested the 24-year-old man for driving under the influence, as well as misconduct involving weapons. He was remanded to the Homer Jail.

An officer at 11:25 made a routine traffic stop on Kachemak Driver near Homer Air, and arrested the 55-year-old driver for an outstanding warrant.

June 3

An officer at 3:40 a.m. contacted a group of people having an argument in the street on Shelford Avenue. The officer separated the people.

Multiple callers at 12:03 p.m. reported a brush fire on Crested Crane Street. Officers assisted the Homer Volunteer Fire Department.

A caller at 1:22 p.m. requested a welfare check on a woman walking near the roadway at Soundview Avenue and the Sterling Highway. An officer went to the location and found all was OK.

A caller at 5:10 p.m. reported a suspicious vehicle and activity at Main Street and Bunnell Avenue. An officer went to the location.

Troopers

May 27

A 63-year-old Kasilof man was issued a citation by the Alaska Wildlife Troopers, Anchor Point Post, for aiding his clients in failing to log their halibut on their fishing license while on a charter trip in Kachemak Bay. Bail is set at $110 in the Homer Court.

A 55-year-old Clam Gluch man was issued a citation by the Alaska Wildlife Troopers, Anchor Point Post, for aiding his clients in failing to log their halibut on their fishing license while on a charter trip in Kachemak Bay. Bail is set at $110 in the Homer Court.

May 31

Alaska State Troopers at 12:47 p.m. responded to a REDDI report in Ninilchik. An investigation showed a 61-year-old Washington man was driving a vehicle under the influence of alcohol. The man was also found to have two prior misdemeanor DUI convictions making this a felony DUI. He was arrested and remanded into the Homer Jail pending arraignment.

June 2

A 32-year-old Homer man was issued a citation by the Alaska Wildlife Troopers, Anchor Point Post, for fishing in closed waters on the Anchor River. Bail is set at $110 in the Homer Court.
