Homer Police

June 19

A caller at 11:55 a.m. reported seeing a stolen dog on Dusty Street. At 6:18 p.m. another caller reported seeing the stolen dog on the Old Sterling Highway in Anchor Point. Police advised the animal control officer and Alaska State Troopers.

A caller at 1:55 p.m. reported an abandoned vehicle on Skyline Drive. Police contacted the driver of the vehicle and advised them of camping ordinances.

A person at 3:43 p.m. made a 911 call of a woman causing a disturbance at a Sterling Highway business. Police responded and took the woman to South Peninsula Hospital for a voluntary mental health admittance.

June 20

A caller at 1:57 p.m. reported fraudulent transactions on an account.

Two callers at 9:38 p.m. reported seeing white smoke in the Mclay Road area. Police responded and confirmed the smoke came from a bonfire.

June 21

A caller at 9:37 a.m. reported losing a drone on the Spit.

A caller at 4:01 p.m. reported people trespassing on private property on the Spit.

A caller at 8:55 p.m. reported a man harassing staff at a Sterling Highway business. Police responded and issued the man a trespass notice and cited him for driving while license revoked and not having an ignition interlock device.

June 22

A caller at 9:56 a.m. reported a person with an active warrant at a Lake Street address. Police responded and arrested a 32-year-old man on a warrant.

A person at 1:30 p.m. reported drug information.

A caller at 2:20 p.m. reported possible drug activity at the Homer Harbor near Ramp 5.

A caller at 3:54 p.m. asked for police advice regarding a kitten subject to a dispute. An officer advised options.

A caller at 5:32 p.m. reported a traffic hazard and property damage as a result of a person feeding cranes in the Kachemak Way area.

A caller at 6:32 p.m. asked police to do a welfare check on a couple hitchhiking on the Sterling Highway. Police found all was OK.

A caller at 10:05 p.m. reported a drunk man passed out at an FAA Road business. Police provided transportation for the man.

June 23

Police at 12:15 a.m. did a security check of an East End Road business and contacted a suspect regarding a possible theft.

A person at 1:37 a.m. made a 911 call of a domestic dispute at a Spruce Lane home. Police responded.

A caller at 2:30 p.m. asked police to do a welfare check on a family member at a Ben Walters Lane address. Police responded and found the person had died.

A caller at 7:46 p.m. reported losing a dog on the Spit. The dog was later found.

A caller at 9:15 p.m. reported a person driving 10 mph on the Sterling Highway and slowing at every crosswalk and intersection with cars backed up behind.

A caller at 10:26 p.m. reported an unattended bag at the airport. Police collected the bag and secured it at the station.

Police at 11:45 p.m. seized cannabis from a vehicle on Adams Drive.

June 24

A caller at 12:46 a.m. reported a suspicious man on foot on Fairview Avenue. Police responded but could not find the man.

A caller at 1:31 a.m. reported a disturbance on the Spit near Ramp 2. Police responded.

Police at 1:46 a.m. provided visitors with help finding accommodations for the night.

Police at 2:45 a.m. stopped a 38-year-old man driving on Lake Street and issued a summons for misuse of plates.

A caller at 7:37 a.m. reported a possibly injured dog stuck on rocks on the Spit. Police responded, rescued the dog and returned it to its owner.

Police at 8:52 a.m. arrested a person on a warrant at a Spruce Lane address.

Police at 11:45 a.m. contacted a 25-year-old man driving on East End Road and issued a summons for not having a valid operator’s license.

A caller at 5:46 p.m. reported two drunk men fighting on Main Street. Police separated the men for the night.

A man at 9:45 p.m. made a 911 call saying he was left alone and doesn’t know where he is. While he was on the phone a responsible person arrived and took care of the man.

Police at 11:52 p.m. made a traffic stop on a driver on Crittenden Drive and cited the person for driving while license revoked and driving in violation of license limitation.

June 25

Several people at 1:32 a.m. made 911 calls of a disturbance at the Karen Hornaday Park Campground. Police responded and arrested a 28-year-old man for disorderly conduct.

A person at 3:36 a.m. made a 911 call of an assault on the Spit. Police responded.

Police at 7:36 a.m. made a traffic stop on a 21-year-old woman and arrested her for DUI and endangering the welfare of a minor. Police issued a violation to a person for minor consuming alcohol.

A caller at 3:47 p.m. reported a shoplifter at a Sterling Highway business.

A caller at 6:05 p.m. expressed concern for unattended children who ran across the Spit with oncoming traffic. Police contacted the children’s parents.

A person at 8:26 p.m. made a 911 call of a person trespassing on private property near Karen Hornaday Road.

A caller at 10:22 p.m. reported people shooting off fireworks on the Spit. Police responded but could not find the suspects.

June 26

A caller at 5:32 a.m. reported a man stuck in the restroom at Bishop’s Beach after he assaulted the caller. Police responded but could not find either person.

A person at 6:27 a.m. made a 911 call who sounded drunk and asked for help. Police provided the person transportation.

Troopers

June 10

Alaska Wildlife Troopers cited a 59-year-old Anchorage man for failing to release a snagged king salmon caught in Deep Creek.

Wildlife Troopers cited a 31-year-old Eagle River woman for sport fishing without a license in possession on the Anchor River.

June 11

Wildlife Troopers cited three Anchorage people ages 26, 33 and 37 for failure to log king salmon on their license. The 37-year-old also was cited for taking an overlimit of salmon.

June 14

Wildlife Troopers cited a 28-year-old Sterling man for failing to log a king salmon caught in the Anchor River.

June 17

Alaska State Troopers at 9:30 p.m. received a “report every dangerous driver immediately: complaint of a person driving aggressively and at high speeds near Mile 141 Sterling Highway near Anchor Point. Troopers stopped the suspect driver, a 37-year-old Homer man, and arrested him for driving under the influence and driving with a suspended license.

Troopers at 10 p.m. went to a report of a disturbance at a home in Anchor Point. Following an investigation, troopers said a 33-year-old Anchor Point man assaulted a family member. The man left before troopers arrived, but troopers found him at 1 a.m. June 18 at a Homer apartment and arrested him for fourth-degree assault, criminal mischief and interfering with a report of domestic violence.

June 18

Wildlife troopers cited a 44-year-old Talkeetna man for failing to log a king salmon caught in the Anchor River .

June 20

Troopers at 10 p.m. made a traffic stop on a vehicle in Anchor Point near the Old Sterling Highway. Troopers arrested a passenger, a 32-year-old Homer man, on a warrant for failure to appear in court.

June 21

Wildlife Troopers cited a 64-year-old Homer man for failure to log a king salmon on his proxy’s license and form that was caught in the Anchor River.

June 23

Troopers at 7:45 p.m. went to a Nikolaevsk home to investigate a 44-year-old Nikolaevsk man who called 911 numerous times during the day saying a neighbor shot him and he needed help. Troopers and medics saw the man walking into his home and apparently not injured. Troopers said the man locked himself inside and called 911 to say he was sorry. Eventually the man came to the door and troopers arrested him for terroristic threatening and making a false report and took him to the Homer Jail. While at the jail, troopers said the man threw urine soaked paper towels at a trooper standing in the hallway. Troopers charged him with first-degree harassment.

June 24

Wildlife troopers cited an 83-year-old Homer man for failing to log a king salmon caught at the Nick Dudiak Fishing Lagoon on the Spit.

Troopers at 11:21 p.m. made a traffic stop on a 39-year-old Homer man in Homer. Troopers suspected the man had an arrest warrant. Troopers identified the man as the suspect and arrested him. Following an investigation, troopers said the vehicle had an Alaska license plate that did not match the vehicle’s identification number. Troopers also charged him with improper use of registration or plates.

Judgments

Michael I. Bailey, 58, pleaded no contest to driving under the influence. He was fined $2,000 with $500 suspended and sentenced to 10 days in jail or monitoring with seven days suspended; ordered to pay $75 to support the Police Training Fund, a $150 jail surcharge with $100 suspended and the $66 cost of monitoring; ordered to attend an alcohol safety action program and install an ignition interlock device; had his driver’s license revoked for 90 days; and was placed on probation for one year.

George M. Youngman, 72, Anchor Point, pleaded guilty to reckless driving. He was fined $1,000 with $500 suspended and sentenced to 30 days in jail with 30 days suspended; ordered to pay $50 to support the Police Training Fund and a $150 jail surcharge with $100 suspended; had his driver’s license revoked for 30 days; and was placed on probation for one year.

Damien L. Aubuchon, 37, pleaded guilty to third-degree forgery. He was fined $500 with $500 suspended and sentenced to 30 days in jail with 20 days suspended; ordered to pay $50 to support the Police Training Fund and a $150 jail surcharge with $100 suspended; ordered to apply for an Alaska Permanent Fund Divided and pay restitution; and was placed on probation for two years.

Caleb L. Jones, 28, Anchorage, pleaded guilty to violating a domestic violence protective order. He was ordered to complete 10 hours of community work service and ordered to pay $50 to support the Police Training Fund.
