Sept. 19
A caller at 8:28 a.m. reported he hit a dog with his vehicle and the dog had a broken leg. Police advised the caller to take the dog to the Homer Veterinary Clinic.
A caller at 10:04 a.m. reported a man came into a Sterling Highway school and was told to leave. Police contacted the man and advised him not to be there during school hours.
A caller at 12:20 p.m. reported her daughter had not returned home.
A woman at 12:37 p.m. asked police to do a welfare check on her husband. Police put out a “be on the lookout” notice.
A caller at 1:28 p.m. reported a shoplifter had taken off running from a Sterling Highway store. Police found the shoplifter.
A caller at 1:47 p.m. reported truck drivers using air-assist brakes on Kachemak Drive. Police contacted the drivers and advised them of city ordinances and the complaint.
A woman at 3:41 p.m. asked police to do a welfare check on a friend. Police found the friend’s car on the Spit and said it appeared the person was out fishing.
Sept. 20
A person at 6:01 p.m. made a 911 call reporting a woman refused to leave an Ocean Drive business and asked that a trespass notice be issued. Police responded and issued the woman a trespass notice.
A caller at 6:15 p.m. reported the door to an Ohlson Lane business was wide open. Police secured the business and contacted the owner.
Police at 8:42 p.m. made a traffic stop on a 42-year-old woman driving on Heath Street. They arrested her on a warrant.
Sept. 21
A caller at 9:47 a.m. reported a person driving in a restricted area on the Spit beach.
A caller at 9:59 a.m. asked police to do a welfare check on a person at a Cityview Avenue address. Police responded and found the person was OK.
A woman at 2:14 p.m. reported a case of harassment.
A man at 3:57 p.m. reported a case of theft and fraud.
Police at 4:39 p.m. assisted medics.
Troopers
Sept. 8
Alaska State Troopers received a report of indecent exposure at an Anchor Point coffee shop. Troopers investigated and alleged a 26-year-old Anchor Point man had exposed himself several times to female workers. Troopers issued the man a summons to appear in court. Sept. 14
Alaska State Troopers at 12:08 p.m. arrested a 23-year-old Fairbanks man in Nanwalek on a probation violation.
Sept. 18
Troopers went to a report of a vehicle in the ditch near Mile 7 East End Road. Troopers said the driver of a black Ford Ranger left the road at a high rate of speed and hit a road sign. The driver left the scene of the crash before troopers arrived. Troopers have identified a suspect. Anyone with information is asked to contact Crimes Stoppers at 800-478-4258.
Sept. 20
Troopers at 1:03 p.m. received a report of a burglarized house near Falls Creek Road in Voznesenka. Troopers said a 1989 light blue Toyota truck was stolen along with a Honda generator, a Craftsman chainsaw and other items. The incident happened the week before. Troopers have identified a suspect. Sept. 21
Troopers at 11:48 a.m. received a report of a white semi-tractor trailer that passed a school bus with red lights flashing in the construction zone near Mile 135 Sterling Highway in Ninilchik. Troopers have identified a suspect. Anyone with information is asked to contact Crimes Stoppers at 800-478-4258.
A 62-year-old Kasilof man at 11:45 a.m. reported he killed a sublegal moose in Game Management Unit 15C near Ninilchik. Troopers issued the man a summons for taking a sublegal moose. The meat was seized and donated to charity.
Sept. 23
Troopers at 9:50 a.m. received a report of a stolen vehicle from an address in Anchor Point. The victim reported a 33-year-old Anchorage woman had stolen his vehicle and a large amount of cash. A short time later the caller was able to make phone contact with the woman in Girdwood. Girdwood troopers from Girdwood found the woman driving the man’s vehicle. Troopers arrestd her and took her to the Anchorage Jail pending arraignment. The vehicle and money were released to the owner.

Valerie K. McDole, 29, Anchor Point, charge dismissed, improper use of registration, title or plates. She pleaded guilty to driving under the influence. She was fined $2,000 with $500 suspended and sentenced to 30 days in jail with 27 days suspended; ordered to pay $75 to support the Police Training Fund, a $150 jail surcharge with $100 suspended and the $330 cost of imprisonment; ordered to attend an alcohol safety action program and install an ignition interlock device; had her driver’s license revoked for 90 days; and was placed on probation for one year.
Brian Jose, 58, Anchorage, charge dismissed, second-degree harassment. He pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct. He was sentenced to one day in jail and ordered to pay $50 to support the Police Training Fund and a $50 jail surcharge. He also pleaded guilty to an amended charge of no valid operator’s license and was sentenced to 10 days in jail.
Steven W. Morris, 60, Ninilchik, charge dismissed, driving while license revoked, cancelled, suspended or limited. He pleaded guilty to driving under the influence. He was fined $4,000 with $1,000 suspended and sentenced to 30 days in jail with 10 days suspended; ordered to pay $75 to support the Police Training Fund, a $150 jail surcharge with $100 suspended and the $1,467 cost of imprisonment; ordered to attend an alcohol safety action program and install an ignition interlock device; had his driver’s license revoked for one year; and was placed on probation for two years.
David L. Ciptak, 49, charge dismissed, fourth-degree theft. He pleaded guilty to second-degree criminal trespass and was fined $150 with $150 suspended; ordered to pay $50 to support the Police Training Fund; ordered to apply for an Alaska Permanent Fund Dividend and pay restitution; ordered not to have contact with Safeway; and was placed on probation for one year.
