White Eagle Medicine Woman conducts a Grandmother Drum “prayerformance” from 3 to 7 p.m. Saturday at Homer United Methodist Church. The 7-foot, Alaska built, crystal inlaid drum is the centerpiece of an afternoon of song, dance, drum meditation, ceremony and community celebration. The prayerformance is focused on peace, community and love, White Eagle said.

“You can’t have a 7-foot drum and not have fun,” she said. “When that drum comes out, the 5-year-old in all of us come out.”

White Eagle, also known as Suraj Holzwarth, built the drum in Palmer, where she had based her Whirling Rainbow Foundation. With Grandmother Drum, White Eagle has been touring the world presenting cultural workshops and presentations. She has recently moved to Homer.

Admission is $10. People are encouraged to bring their own drums. For more information, visit www.whirlingrainbow.com.
