For November’s First Friday exhibits, a wide variety of artists creating in diverse media dominate exhibits from East End Road to Black Water Bend. Except for Melissa Daubert’s “String Calendar” installation at Bunnell Street Arts Center, all shows this month feature groups of artists. Two shows highlight student and emerging artists. At Ben Firth Studio at Mile 161 Sterling Highway near Black Water Bend, three students of Aurora Firth show their work. At the Homer Council on the Arts, artists who have never been featured in juried shows get a chance to shine at the annual Emerging Artists exhibit.

Guests attending Saturday’s Ritz at the Moulin Rouge, the Pratt Museum’s gala event, can preview art to be auctioned with a reception from 5-9 p.m. Friday at Wasabi’s on East End Road. The show includes work by some of Homer and Alaska’s finest artists. Catch other group shows with a Ptarmigan Arts scholarship fundraiser and a trio of artists at the Fireweed Gallery.

Even Daubert’s installation features guest artists, including work done by students in two workshops she did this month at Bunnell. Daubert has created a series of sculptures made from coconut grass and wire during her residency at Bunnell.
