Homer Police Report

Feb. 29

A caller at 8:39 a.m. reported cash was stolen from an unlocked car on Bayview Avenue.

A man at 1:52 p.m. made a 911 call that items at his home were being damaged by his landlord. He later reported his landlord drove by as the caller was walking and dropped off his possessions in boxes on the street. Police contacted the man and advised him of options he could pursue through civil court proceedings.

March 1

A caller at 10:19 a.m. reported a person called and tried to get bail money for a relative supposedly arrested out of state.

A caller at 11:32 a.m. reported a caller tried to get personal information.

A caller at 3:47 p.m. reported a child hit by a rock on Mattox Street.

A caller at 3:51 p.m. asked police to do a welfare check on a person at a Ben Walters Lane address. Police found the person and all was OK.

A caller at 4:44 p.m. reported people clearing a trailer from a Main Street lot. Police contacted the owner of the property and verified that the owner was doing the work.

March 2

A caller at 1 p.m. reported an attempted scam.

A caller at 1:39 p.m. reported a theft from a Spit business. Police responded.

A caller at 2:04 p.m. reported seeing a possible wanted suspect at a Sterling Highway address. Police responded but could not find the suspect.

A caller at 3:39 p.m. reported cars parked in prohibited areas on Bishop’s Beach east of the parking lot. Police issued warnings.

Police at 5:55 p.m. contacted a 20-year-old man driving near Mile 172 Sterling Highway and issued him a summons for failure to provide proof of insurance.

A caller at 6:35 p.m. reported juveniles riding four-wheelers and having a bonfire at a lot on Tulin Terrace Boulevard.

A caller at 5:29 p.m. reported a car stuck in a prohibited area of Bishop’s Beach.

An officer at 10:45 p.m. saw a car parked in the prohibited area of Bishop’s Beach and issued the driver a warning.

March 3

A caller at 2:55 p.m. reported a driver failing to yield at a four-way stop at Main Street and Pioneer Avenue.

A caller at 8:39 p.m. reported a hitchhiker in the middle of the road at Mile 0.5 Spit Road. Police provided three men transportation to the harbor.

March 4

A caller at 8:10 a.m. reported a possible break-in at a Slavin Drive home.

A caller at 10:55 a.m. asked police to do a welfare check on a person and children. Police found all was OK.

A caller at 3:08 p.m. reported receiving harassing communications.

A person at 3:50 p.m. came by the station and asked for options regarding moving out of an East End road home. Police determined this was an ongoing civil issue and advised the person of options.

A caller at 5:06 p.m. reported vehicles parked in the prohibited area on Bishop’s Beach east of the parking lot. Police responded and advised drivers of new beach regulations.

A caller at 10:45 p.m. reported being concerned for a dog left outside a Fairview Avenue home. Police left a message for the dog’s owner and checked on the dog. The dog was OK.

A caller at 11:27 p.m. reported being harassed over a civil issue.

March 5

Police at 11:59 a.m. stood by for a court-ordered eviction from a Main Street home.

A man at 12:36 p.m. came by the station to report a tire slashed on a car parked at a Sterling Highway lot.

A caller at 1 p.m. reported the unattended death of a man at an Ocean Drive home. Police responded and determined there was nothing suspicious about the death.

A caller at 7:23 p.m. reported two dogs tied to a log outside a Soundview Avenue house and barking nonstop and lunging at cars. Police responded and advised the dogs’ owner of the complaint.

March 6

A man at 1:47 a.m. made a 911 call that a driver in a car spun out and almost hit him on Bayview Avenue.

A caller at 4:03 a.m. reported a drunk person passed out on the sidewalk on Fireweed Avenue. Police and medics responded and took the person to South Peninsula Hospital.

A person at 3:07 p.m. made a 911 call of being verbally abused and threatened at a Lake Street address. Police responded and provided a person transportation away from the scene. A person also was issued a trespass warning.

Several callers at 4:31 p.m. reported a drunk pedestrian stumbling along the Sterling Highway and urinating. Police responded.

A caller at 9 p.m. reported suspicious vehicles parked at the Calvin and Coyle Trail head on Mariner Drive.

March 7

A caller at 2:48 a.m. reported a disturbance outside a Kachemak Drive home. Police responded but did not find a crime.

A person at 4:42 a.m. made a 911 call of being lost and cold. Police responded and provided transportation for a woman.

A caller at 8:11 a.m. asked police to do a welfare check on people at their Bayview Court home. All was OK.
